This was a fantastic brunch! First, the maitre d' was fantastic. Second, our waiter was perfectly professional. The food was really good, the decor was wonderful, the piano background was great, and looking out at the ocean couldn't be beat! Was there on Jan 3rd and 4th and had a great dining experience there. I forgot our waitresses name but she was really nice and attentive. My wife got the Grilled NY strip dinner and I got the duck which was very tender along with the bang bang shrimp for an appetizer. The bar at the end of restaurant is nice & comfortable with a fireplace. The bartender is excellent and friendly with fast service and the drinks were very generous. It's obvious Victoria's aims to be the fanciest restaurant on the boardwalk for a very particular demographic of vacationers. Waitstaff might treat you like dirt if you're not a retiree who regularly summers in Rehoboth and who occasionally indulges in a proper afternoon tea. NOT fine dining, no matter how badly it wants to be. FOOD: We selected Victoria's for lunch based on good reviews, nice setting, and reasonable prices. Food was ok and came out fast (slow off-season late lunch). The fish and chips was by far the best value and execution. Good kids' menu portions and fresh fruit side option. ATMOSPHERE: Lovely holiday decorations, animatronics, and the birds were really quite neat, though I did have hygiene concerns for having birds in the poorly-ventilated hotel lobby adjacent to the restaurant. SERVICE: Appallingly disrepectful. For sure, the customer is not always right, but a well-meaning customer does not deserve to leave a restaurant feeling humiliated, especially when our offenses seemingly stemmed from cultural unfamiliarity and members of our party literally not speaking English. From the very beginning, my family was treated disrespectfully by the majority (not all-- the folks bussing tables were lovely) of staff. We entered from what was apparently a side door to the restaurant by mistake, as signage from the left-hand hotel entrance had directed us. We were literally standing amid empty tables and ignored. After a few minutes, we asked a passing waitress if we could be directed to a host and were told "oh we saw you and told her." Our waiter made little attempt to hide his contempt for our party's unfamiliarity with what he presumably deemed appropriate behavior for the restaurant-- not having a reservation, asking questions, fussing with large coats, having to interpret for members of the family-- by audibly scoffing, rolling his eyes, and turning away without comment. Twice. Again, fine to consider our behavior rude and even unbecoming of your service. But please, find another way to convey to customers what might befit your establishment that does not leave out-of-towners, who sat and paid for the whole meal, confused and angry. Judging by reviews, we aren't the first party to arrive through the wrong door and I can only assume as the wrong target market. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30
What a pleasant, calm, beautiful place to enjoy a special breakfast on a winter weekend.
