Hands down the best restaurant in Beloit! The food is fantastic, and always consistent. Every single person there is warm and friendly, providing a very charming atmosphere. We've dined here for birthdays, anniversaries, and just for fun. I would recommend this place 100 times over, and that might not even be enough! We had dinner reservations last night, part of their Valentine’s Week celebration. Unfortunately, the food & drinks were definitely not up to the quality you would expect for a place that prides themselves on made in house pasta. Also, for the prices. First off the focaccia bread was burnt and dry, it wasn’t just ours. It was all the dinners that night had burnt bread. My pasta was chewy, stiff and cold. The sausage in the sauce was mushy and cold. It was like the pasta was cooked way ahead of time, sat out, and then they tried reheating it. It made it very difficult to eat both due to the texture & temperature. My husband had the scallops they were not seared and were tough. The kale was overcooked and the squash was undercooked. The sauce on the scallop dish was too sweet and had the wrong balance of acidity. Which made it taste off & stomach turning. The vesper was too watery… seemed like that added too much ice when making it. Fortunately, the staff were very nice and our waitress, Rosie, was wonderful. We have enjoyed everything we’ve ordered at Velvet Buffalo! The presentation and taste is unique for the area. The seasonal peppermint gelato is amazingly good! Service has been friendly and prompt. Honestly, I wanted to love it. Great location and atmosphere. We went and my meal was just terrible. Waitress was extremely kind and brought me an apple salad after the main meal was just plain nasty. Replacement apple salad was tasty, except there was way, way, way too much dressing. The greens were swimming in dressing “soup” on bottom of the salad bowl. Waitress was excellent for her kindness and service. I left and went to Mc D’s to eat after. I won’t be a frequent flyer.
