What. An. Experience! The 2 of us "averages" were looking for a nice, cozy and tummy-filling place to dine at in Vadsø, when we stumbled upon Indigo, and what an experience we had there! We came in the middle of the day on a saturday, and we had the whole restaurant for ourselves for like 90% of our stay, which was quite the nice surprise! Dine in peace is what we did then, yes. Friendly staff as well who greeted us and presented us with the menus asap. The main courses cost from 315NOK and up, so it's not the budget-friendly restaurant for the average being, but wow, the food we got was amazing! We were presented with packed stews that contained enough to fill our bellies and more! I believe I filled my plate at least 3 or 4 times until I was stuffed. And they didn't spare anything on the rice either, trust us on that! They also get a plus for mixing up a nice salad to go with the dinner. Not that we are professionals or anything, but it seems like they had quite a lot to choose from when it came to appetizers and main courses. The waiting time didn't seem to be long either, but we cannot say anything on that since we were the only ones there... From the looks of it, it seemed to be clean enough for us. But, it was the brilliant combo of sheer silence and peaceful atmosphere and packed dinners that was the wow-experience and that made our visit well worth it.
All in all, we are most definitely happy with our stay at Indigo, and will gladly visit again! Ok, it's not a budget restaurant or an everyday restaurant since they are a tad bit pricey, but we definitely left the place with bellies well-filled with delish food! Highly recommended, absolutely! Will definitely revisit Indigo, yes! PS: Forgot to take photos, but then again; the hungry bellies made us forget to snap some photos, heh...
Had the thicken curry and beef curry here, with a homemade chocolate cake for dessert.
The curry was spiced well enough and the taste was overall good. The chicken was moist and very tender.
The beef was very tender but not as good as the chicken to me.
The rice was done more or less perfectly.
The salad was fine and fresh overall.
The naan was okay but it felt a bit soggy or otherwise just not as crispy as I'd like it. Flavour was good though.
The chocolate cake was homemade and the slice i got was fairly big as well. I thought it was going to be heavy but it felt quite fluffy and decently light to eat. It came with cream and ice cream with chocolate sauce on top.
I could have done without the chocolate sauce personally, and the ice cream was just tri color from the store.
Great atmosphere and look with indian historic items scattered around the place. Very rustic and classical dining setup and look.
The only thing that i snuffed at a bit was the price. It all felt a bit high price wise, and felt it could have been maybe 20-30% cheaper to really be good value.
Price for each main dish was 350 and 400kr.
I'd say this is the best Indian restaurant you can get in the Finnmark region. They offer you 3 garde of heat level. Price might be a bit steep, but it's well worth it as the chef uses the ingredients very well.
Absolutely recommend this place for warm satisfying Indian food. Crispy nann bread, generous portions of fluffy basmati rice and quick friendly service. Our lamb curry (Kashmirilam) was rich with a right amount of spiciness. The curry tasted of delicious meaty broth and one serving came with many soft boneless cubes of lamb. The chicken korma (Murg corma) has a creamy sauce and tastes good but the lamb was the star. A bowl of fresh crispy salad was the perfect accompaniment. Restaurant is tastefully furnished great for a date, family or group dining.
