Wonderful experience. It was my first time trying mead, and I must say, excellent. I definitely love their cider. Exceptional quality and atmosphere. Mellow vibe for the folk who actually enjoy conversation while sipping on quality beverages. Looking forward to coming back soon. :)

The best bar I've ever been to in San Diego county. A very friendly group of employees who are nice to newcomers and welcoming the entire experience. There were games to play while enjoying their wonderful and creative mead with live music that added to the atmosphere. The decorations help immerse and relax my and I as we played and enjoyed ourselves in the comforting tavern feel. The fellow customers were all lighthearted and friendly as well, and the whole place was uplifted and homely. I would highly recommend this fine place to anyone who enjoys fantasy, live music, mead, cider, good food, and tabletop games.

We were so stoked to finally swing by, being big Mead and Cider fans we've toured locations all over the world, and we've heard great things. We arrived on a semi-busy Friday night, we waited at the bar for a few minutes, both bar tenders noticed us but didn't approach, they were talking to other patrons. We moved down the bar, to be ignored once more. We decided to take it business to a few other other breweries down the street. All rad and welcoming. I can't speak of their Mead or Coder, but their service was a solid flop. Great ambiance.
Twisted Horn has been the best meadery in San Diego for years. They balance their mead flavors and mead menu so that there are always drier meads and sweeter meads on tap. Their meads are also priced better than any other meadery in San Diego. The mead menu is also the largest in the county with carbonated, still, and barrel aged options. They also release rare mead styles like tej and fortified meads that you won't find anywhere else in the country. Their staff is also more knowledgeable in the craft of mead making than any other meadery I've ever been to which is awesome when you don't know what to choose.
This place is so fun! We stumbled upon it just before we went to Norway, the awesome Nordic vibes really got us excited for our trip. The meads and ciders are very very good. Very dog friendly too! We love to spend the evening here and definitely recommend you spend some time here too!
The mead and cider here is so good, and I love the old Viking tavern décor. My favorite was the Bag of Holding mead. I highly recommend stopping by for a glass, on your own or with friends!
We own a meadery, The Meading Room, and enjoy visiting meaderies whenever we are on travel. We visited Twisted Horn, met Vince, and tried a range of meads and ciders. All of the products are excellent quality and have wonderful flavors. We brought home quite a few bottles to share with our staff. We plan to visit TH whenever we are in the area.

Just had Freyja's Obsession (1), Toby's Tale mead (7) mead, Wyld Fest (12) cider, and Pure Pear (15) cider, and my preferred one is the 12 Wyld Fest with lingonberry flavor, and then Toby's Tale with cherry flavor. Although Wyld Fest is a bit sweeter than others, the flavoring was excellent and I could taste both apple and lingonberry. Freyja's Obsession was a bit too complicated, I could not make of what the real taste behind it supposed to be. Although there is a vanilla flavor that I can totally taste, I actually had a hard time trying to get that orange or strawberry in my senses. Toby's Tale was actually interesting because this is what I remember as the mead I had in Scandinavian countries about 30 years ago when I was traveling there. There is a trail of honey flavor remnant lingering in the mouth. But the interesting part about this particular drink is that there is a bit of bitterness as an aftertaste. I would probably take Toby's Tale as the mead that I would order considering that this is a mead and cider bar. For cider, Wyld Fest hit the spot for me because I could actually taste the apple and lingonberry. This was an excellent dessert drink for sure. I don't know if I would get the Pure Pear next time although it was claimed to have won the gold medal at SDIBC(?). Perhaps, I am not the best reviewer to rely on for alcoholic drinks, but personally, I didn't find Pure Pear interesting. It was just alcohol that I could actually taste and not much else.
Twisted Horn is a hidden gem located off the beaten path in Vista with a relaxed, woodsy vibe. So many SD breweries fall into the loud-music-warehouse trap, but this place breaks out of that mold and forges the path to Viking greatness! Everything about it, from the decor to the lighting and music, makes you feel as though you’ve walked into the cozy hall of your viking grandfather. Regardless of whether or not you love the ambiance, the drinks are truly a cut above. Every cider or mead we have tried has been absolutely above our expectations—the flavors are complex, rich, and original, without being overly sweet. Furthermore, every drink tastes good (if not better) as it warms, which is a true testament to its quality. Everyone here feels welcomed and like a friend as soon as they walk in the door, (check out the boardgames!) and the employees are super knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant (especially Erik—his kindness and in-depth knowledge about the brews is especially helpful if you can’t decide). We love this place SO much we were a bit conflicted about reviewing it because we didn’t want it to get too crowded. PS—try Ostgard (it’s delicious).
