This was our first time eating at Tu Y Yo and absolutely won’t be our last. As a Californian, I’ve had my fair share of stellar Mexican food, but this place was phenomenal. We ordered tamales (5), soup, a carnitas plate, cactus juice, and avocado cheesecake. My gosh. You know a place is bomb when all you want to eat is their rice and beans. The tamales were extremely moist, the soup was flavorful, the carnitas was tender, and the dessert was rich and not too sweet. All their food was fresh, delicious, and very authentic tasting. Will absolutely be back! Also their in-house hot sauce is extremely good. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Incredible authentic Mexican food! The tamales are a must! Additionally if you get dine in, their margaritas are great. You can get a bottle for $25, which is about 4 margaritas. Great portion sizes and delicious hot sauce, which you can also purchase to take home. Definitely a hole in the wall but well worth it! Stopped in here for 2 apps: Mexican sausage + chicken sopes and the plantains. They were incredible!! We’ll definitely be coming back for dinner if the apps were any indication of their other dishes. Very authentic food! Their house drinks sounded great too (both alcoholic + nonalcoholic). Decor is cute and welcoming too Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Price per person $1–10

Really nice cozy little restaurant in a area that’s a little bit quieter than Davis. The small plates were great .. the tamales sampler was actually pretty good with 3 different styles which were all really good. Plantains were perfect as starter snack..the shrimp tacos weren’t that bad, enjoyed the fresh avocado it came with. Will come back to try the deserts next time for sure. This was our first time dining here and it definitely won’t be our last. Best Mexican food I have had in the Boston area. The restaurant is cozy and homey. The staff was very friendly and helpful in suggesting items from the menu. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We tried the fried plantains, tamales, Pechugas en Salsa de Chile Poblano, and Nopales con Cerdo. Everything was hot, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. We also tried the horchata, which was spicy and delicious but overly sweet. We will definitely be coming back here again and we look forward to trying their brunch menu. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50

I always drove past this place and never bothered to try it. Until my buddy of mine came over to my place with tacos, and they were so good. I asked him where he got them from and told me from Tu y Yo. So I went there today, and this place BLEW my mind. Them Birria tacos and michelada were SO GOOD. I definitely will be coming back here again. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

It's always disappointing to report a mediocre experience, but this place was really a below average restaurant disguised as a really good one. It seemed to hit all the marks, good reviews, great online pics of well presented food... Chips were great, Guacamole was ok, even perhaps good. But the vegetarian quesadilla app, was kind of a joke. More like an undercooked and underseasoned empanada. The rest of the meal was equally underwhelming, as was the service. The kicker was the $4 upcharge for a 2nd bowl of tortilla chips. Very nice people and a clean inviting space, but as a restaurant, way below the 4.6 star experience expected. Reviewers in Boston need to up their standards imo.
