My wife and I visited Topher's for the first time on a recent trip to Hattiesburg. We had passed it many times, saying we wanted to try it and finally took the opportunity we had to do so. We both got a burger, and we split an order of onion rings and an order of the loaded Philly fries. The food was good and definitely worth a second trip in the future. Awesome experience here on Move-In Day at USM Topher’s. Four minutes away from the dorm & we loved it! Spicy BBQ Ranch burger, Philly cheesesteak sandwich - so cheesy, fried mushrooms, Pepper Jack burger & more were outstanding! And service was exceptional! We were even greeted by a manager, Kyana, who gave us a Move-In welcome gift!!! Above & beyond! And Walker came to check on us to ensure we were enjoying everything. This was a tuff one to review. I absolutely love the cute looking restaurant. The style is excellent. The food was just okay. The grits bowl was different but, I honestly didn't like the biscuit & gravy. Their sausage had good flavor, the biscuit was a tad soggy. Fast and friendly. Had the pimento cheeseburger and sweet potato waffle fries. Food was excellent. Most restaurants overwhelm the burger with too much pimento cheese, bit this was just right. The interior was nice and clean. Nice touches like outlets all over the place for anyone needing to charge a phone or use a laptop. Today it took them 30 mins to give me an order of plain biscuits for takeout, and this is not the first time this happens. I thought it was because they were making them from scratch, but upon receiving them, the biscuits were not even lukewarm. Service quality in this location has been sadly decreasing lately. I have been to Topher's a couple of times, once through the drive-thru and another time dining in. The drive-thru experience was fine. I remeber getting Mama's Best Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was a decent chicken salad sandwhich. When I came to dine in for breakfast with my brother around 6:30 one morning, there were only two people working and only one other person dining in. Their main focus was the drive-thru, so customer service inisde suffered. We had to wait a minute for someone to show up to the counter to take our order. Other employees started showing up around 7:00 a.m., which was when we were leaving. The food tasted good. My brother got a steak omelet, southern grits and pancakes. I got the Topher's Bowl and some pancakes too. The steak omelet, grits, and Topher's Bowl were pretty good. The pancakes were mediocre, which was disappointing. Its alright. Just isn't the amazing food that most people make it out to be. Tater tots were super over salted when I went. Everything else was basic food you're gonna get at any chain diner type place. Prices are pretty good, compared to other places in the area. We decided to finally stop and try Tophers after passing it several times. The food was as hot and good, except they got my order wrong and failed to have all of our food ready (fried pickles were not brought out with our order and we were almost done with our meal before they were ready). The kitchen staff was extremely loud and cursed quite a few times. Their conversations were quite upsetting as I sat there with my family. I MIGHT go through the drive thru at some point in the future, but I will not bring my family back to dine in. A mess! Topher’s used to be one of my favorite places to get food, breakfast or lunch. For the last couple of months, more than once I have came here & my food was burnt, too hard, cold, put together sloppy & I just brushed it off and said ok maybe they are having a bad day. So today I received this for a sausage and biscuit (pictures attached). I called the store, after I had made it home to speak with the manager to ask her if I could come back to get another or get my money back. She replied “yea if you make it before 2”. Whether I make it before 2 or not. I paid money for quality breakfast. Anyway, I get to the restaurant to return the biscuit and I receive this (the third biscuit). I politely returned the biscuit and asked for my money back. This is ridiculous. I won’t be back.
