The positive about Tip Top:
I have been a Tip Top customer since my childhood. My folks made a point of stopping at Tip Top when ever they did business in Vereeniging, and so we grew to love Tip Tops products. In particular their custard slices. I can honestly say that I have never come across their equal worldwide. There is no custard slice like Tip Top's custard slice!
THAT BEING SAID;
When you have the best product, but you run out of stock half way through most days, that makes your customers angry. It is a simple business principle. Supply and demand. If you have a winning product in big demand, you make sure that you NEVER run out!
I live in a different town, but I always stop at Tip Top whenever I am within a radius of 10-15km. I am estimating that in the last 10 times I was there, at least haf the time I was disappointed with no products. To the point where I am forced to give this mixed review. I hope this review reaches the owner and that there will be action. They can do so much better than they are currently doing. Customers gets disappointed only so many times before you loose them. You may have lost many already....
I am very disappointed in their business hours, always closing at 4pm. Most people work late and cannot get their so early! I blame the Three rivers centre for allowing this, there are other stores we can support, to be in a mall the hours should be much more appropriate! Great cakes, etc, but unacceptable hours!!!
Delicious baked goods served fresh each day. On your must-buy list should be: the fresh daily baked white buns, amazing chicken nuggets and the white chocolate 'pypies' (that's what the receipt said 😁, not sure what the culinary name is). Inventory is limited is each day so make sure you go early to avoid disappointment.
I was extremely disappointed this morning when I went to the Tip Top in river square (2021-03-14) I had asked for 3 x cream puffs 3 x cream canolies and 2 x the canolies with the chocolate on the rim. The lady working there started making calculations on her calculator (not the actual till) and kept going over and over the sum. Firstly if there were actual prices on the items I could easily know what I owe but I then got charged R123 which I asked her to double check the price, it then came to R78 which I was astounded how much I was originally being charged. I have no idea if the employees are adding extra cash for themselves as I was also not given a slip and when I asked for one the answer was that the till was broken. I understand the quality of these confectioneries are good but I feel like prices must be made known to the buyer and things should be more professional - in a time where finances are difficult when one wishes to treat their family to something nice I find it horrible to be over charged so easily because if I did not question her I would have been over charged by R45. I still don't know if R78 is the correct price but I am extremely disappointed in this bakery and will not be spending my hard earned money somewhere that takes advantage of its buyers.
