Service Dine in Meal type Lunch
This is a really nice restaurant, with very tasty food. I highly recommend going. Unfortunately, the wait staff seems a bit stressed, especially when they have to serve more tables, combined with the robot waiter. I personally didn't like that from the order I made, the desserts were brought to my table first, and then the other dishes, but I explained it to myself by saying that the dessert must have cooled and that's the reason. Overall I enjoyed it and I guess the restaurant manager will deal with the problems they have in their customer service. To avoid waiting in line, I arrived at 11am for an early lunch. It was a decent meal with standard dim sum and spacious / comfortable setting. What made this particular Tom Ho Wan Taipei branch stand out was their friendly and polite staffs, which was a sharp contrast when comparing to their Hong Kong Station restaurant. Tim Ho Wan the name that so call bear the Michelin star, but with high expectations comes big disappointment. First of all price is still affordable, waiter just murmuring our orders, restaurant just slightly half full. Food taste, everything feels microwave and then steamed, egg tart cold like left out for a few days, shrimp dumpling skin tore like it is over cooked. Only chicken feet taste abit better, not the best, but is good considering the rest is just not acceptable for its 'Michelin' name.
Overall, I will rate Tim Ho Wan 8/10 it taste pretty good, some of the dishes is just not worth the price and probably not for everyone. The Fried Tofu and Shiaomai was ok. But imo their Salted Egg Custard Buns is a must try, the custard is melted out when you bite so be careful with it.
