My mom, daughter and me watched the World Cup Rubgy in Lakeside and was amazing! Always gave us great tables to watch with my mom in mind. Even with the final on Sat excellent service and communication. Even adding my daughters friends last minute😁Thank you for amazing time and the service fantastic even with so many people. In general we were quite pleased with our friend outing at the branch in Westlake/Lakeside area. Food was great and the service was good even when it was busy outside. Something that ticked us off is when our waiter questioned our tip towards him. The bill was quite average for 4 people and we gave a decent amount. Just wondering if a server may question and insult the tip percentage? As far I am concerned it is polite to give a tip but it should not be compulsory. We felt very guilty... Besides we had to ask a different waiter for more ice and other small things. I would rather not name and shame...it's not fair. My kinda place! Nicely decorated, good selection of beers. You can sit inside and outside, TV's with sports matches are on. Their venison pie is delicious . Burgers and pizza are very decent as well. Whenever I am in South Africa, I will make sure to pay a few visits to this place before we head back to NL. Was a nice laid back atmosphere while the service was on point and not as laid back as the atmosphere was 😁. Great, friendly and fast service from the waiter who always had a smile. There is only ONE pub restaurant on ALL Planet Earth that I could say is worthy of frequenting over and over again and it's The Toad On The Road. Why? Because the atmosphere is just right - you choose whether you prefer to be seated where the action is, among the live sport on the TVs and the enthusiastic fans or at a quiet table. The interior is neat and spacious, outside is cozy. Thre drinks flow here, the staff are terrific (on my every visit), but it's the food quality that does not disappoint! Perfectly char-grilled steak, ribs, fresh beer-battered fish, sizzling pizza from the oven... the choices are all good, the portions are fulfilling and the taste is exquisite.
