The Tiller stands out as a gem in the dining scene, particularly for its consistently exceptional drinks. The bar at The Tiller is a testament to mixology expertise, with each sip of their carefully crafted cocktails being a delightful journey of flavors. The attention to detail in the drink selection and presentation is commendable, making every visit a unique and enjoyable experience. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tonight we were super excited to try the Tiller. The views were gorgeous. That's about where the positives ended. I ordered a lobster roll on a gluten free bun. When it came out the bread was so hard and stale it couldn't even be bitten into. I've been gluten free for multiple years, I know the bread is not great and hard to work with. So my husband asked the server, Marc, if this was normal, or if the bread was maybe over toasted. He said "it's just how it is" and walked away while we were still speaking. I went to try to bite it again and realized the lobster smelled super super fishy, Like tuna out of a can. My husband tried it and hours later said he still tastes fishy lobster in his mouth. I didn't eat it. I'm pretty uncomfortable in confrontational situations, so I didn't bother to send it back. I said nothing. Ate my fries, and figured that was dinner. Marc, our server didn't return again for the entirety of the meal. We were never offered a second round of drinks. . When Marc finally returned to see if we wanted the check, he saw I didn't eat and said "I'm going to take that off your check." We didn't ask. But we were really grateful, and said thanks and ordered dessert to go. While we were waiting for dessert the manager came over. He was snide and said "I heard the lobster wasn't to your liking?"... I was relatively apologetic and said "I know gluten free bread is hit or miss but the lobster was fishy." To which he replied, "interesting, I'll go back and taste it myself." I thought this was strange... then he returned to the table and goes "just wanted you to know, i tasted that Lobster, it was freshly chopped and DELICIOUS", I'm still unsure what his point was, but it read super unprofessional and passive aggressive, like I was being accused of lying (yep, you caught me, I was DYING to drop $150, wrestle two toddlers through dinner and not even eat. Busted.) The place is a low end seafood buffet masquerading as a bougie restaurant. Seems like they believe the snottier they behave, the more high end they seem, which is a classic new money mistake. Go just about anywhere else.
We had brunch and dinner here. Brunch was a bit underwhelming and dinner was delicious! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We went to the Tiller Room at the Cliff House for my mom’s and uncle’s birthday dinner! We had such a lovely experience. We started in the lounge with drinks and appetizers while watching live music by the fire and then migrated into the dining room. The wait staff was accommodating as we had some younger kids with us! Overall, we had such a lovely night! Hopefully, we will go back soon for another great dinner! We stayed at the Cliff House for four nights in mid September 2023 and ate both breakfast and dinner here several times. The views are breathtaking if you get a table by the window, but even if you don't the restaurant has a very nice upscale ambience. No, this is not inexpensive, but the food and service are first rate, plus the chef was very accommodating to my wife's food allergies and prepared a specially made dinner for her more than once. All the food was delicious, fresh, and nicely presented. Portion sizes were very good. Prices were on par for other upscale restaurants we have gone to. We have vacationed in this area for years and have dined at many other restaurants. For fine dining this is definitely one of the better places. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The Tiller Restaurant, nestled within the Cliff House Maine resort, proved to be a delightful culinary pitstop during our stay. The highlight for me was undeniably the succulent lobster rolls, a dish that truly captures the essence of Maine. Beyond the food, the service was commendable. Our toddler daughter was met with warmth and hospitality, and the presence of a kids' menu was an added bonus. But perhaps the most memorable aspect of The Tiller is its stunning location. With panoramic views of the cliffs, every seat offers a visual treat. Even the gray veil of an overcast day couldn't diminish the beauty of the seascape before us. Our experience was so positive that we're already eager for a return visit. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Lobster Roll
