Cool vibe place in Belmont NC (food scene is gaining momentum btw). It’s a butcher, seafood, wine store with a restaurant as well. You can order from menu or select from the butcher / seafood cases. Got there at about 7:30 on a Saturday and found one open table 😎. Waiter Adam was right there and very helpful. Had the cowpig burger with eggplant fries and my date had the Ruben - both really good - actually far better than I was expecting ! My wife is a Reuben expert and she gave a solid thumbs up. Recommend checking it out - try for lunch or dinner. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife and I had a reservation for Valentine’s Day. We loved our entrees and appetizer. We added on two sides — $6 duck fat fries, and $5 Brussels sprouts. I definitely expected a much larger portion of fries, and the Brussels sprouts were incredibly bland and soggy. Our server (Isaiah I think) was fantastic. We’ve been to The String Bean on several occasions. I definitely expected more out of the side orders. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Had a delightful experience here. The staff was very amazing helpful knowledgeable and good at setting expectations. I showed up without a reservation on a Saturday night, and the hostess handled it wonderfully laying out my options, they had plenty. I chose to sit at the community open table that had a fire. I think this was a brilliant idea and applauded them on their creativity. Our server was wonderful I wish I could remember her name to give her a shout out. Failure on my part. The menu looked amazing ordered the tuna taco special with Brussels and my friend got a turkey sandwich with duck fat fries. You can tell the kitchen there takes great pride in what they do. The only shock of the night was the bill which was a lot less than I thought it would be. I have heard rumors of people eating there multiple times a week and I can see why, nothing beats responsibly priced delicious food. This was a cute place to stop for lunch. The wine pour was incredibly generous, I’d say about 8-9 oz. I got the chicken and dumplings gnocchi, which was alright. It was pretty salty, and the gnocchi was more dumpling-like than actual gnocchi. It should have just been called ‘chicken and dumplings’ because that’s exactly what it is. I loved the addition of Brussels sprouts, although they would have been better roasted and crispier. They have a huge selection of locally brewed beers, and a good wine selection as well. Half the building was a store to buy cans of beer and bottles of wine, so you can take home any drinks you liked during your meal. The food and atmosphere here take center stage and both are excellent. The service and speed can be improved. We came here for a 7:30 reservation and were seated immediately. The fire table outside was great. The patio and lighting make it feel amazing. The food took a very long time to arrive. That’s ok since we had appetizers and drinks. My only complaint would be that the server might should have checked in more often for drink refills. Make sure you are prepared to wait for the main courses and order appetizers. When the food arrived, the table became silent as everyone enjoyed the amazing flavors.

I was visiting a long time friend in Shelby Nc and we stopped at The string bean for brunch. We had the mussels to start with a grilled Caesar salad and red wine! All amazing ! Went out for dinner at The String Bean. What a great place To go hang out for drinks and a snack or dinner with family and friends. I would say the place has great atmosphere. The design and decor were cool and laid back. A must for everyone to try. We had our dinner on the patio where they had nice lighting and cool music, what a vibe! No liquor license, But the best beer and wine selection I have seen in any restaurant. It is better than the wine shops, plenty of beer or wine you can buy and take home. She had the Crab stuffed Trout with vegetables. I got a bone in Pork chop and the eggplant fries. Wow they were amazing. The Trout was so good it melted in our mouths. The Pork chop was so juicy. They have a butcher shop inside with the best selection of meat and seafood you can get it to go. What a great place to spend the evening. The atmosphere was okay. Service was good although we waited for a long time to get our food. We couldn’t hear the waiter properly so I would suggest they post their specials on a board somewhere. My husband got the Philly Hoagie which he enjoyed, I got the fish and chips and it was barely edible. Fish batter was burnt and bitter. The fish inside was actually good. I am thinking the fish was frozen and in order to get it cooked through they had to overdo the cook on the batter. What a pity. Sweet potato fries were overcooked and over seasoned and I couldn’t eat them. I thought of complaining but then I thought, if the cook could not see what he was putting on the plate was burnt then they have a serious problem. Very disappointing. I just won’t go there anymore.
