We timed our visited to The Roof in Vale De Lobo for late afternoon so to catch pre dinner drinks in the sunshine whist overlooking the beautiful Algarve coastline.
The Roof has a prime location and as suggested by the name, it is elevated up and is actually situated on ‘the roof’ area above The Sandbanks restaurant below (see separate review for The Sandbank restaurant).
Access to the bar is up a small flight of stairs where you enter a glass enclosed room in which the bar is positioned along with a range of seating as well. Continue through this room to access a lovely open aired roof top decking platform that is overlooking the adjacent beach.
The deck is surrounded by glass to protect people from any prevailing winds and has a great range of comfortable seating from sofas to single chairs along with plenty of parasols giving customers a good level of comfort.
Simple, but tastefully arranged this roof top bar is a great and relaxed place to spend some time just kicking back, enjoying the sun, sea, views and general vibe of the bar.
The Roof has a great and extensive menu providing a range of routine drinks through to high end champagnes and liquors.
If in Vale De Lobo and you are looking for a suitably classy but, easy going bar then get yourself here, you won’t be disappointed. What a great place to waste some time.
Lovely venue, setting and scenery overlooking golden strands in a relaxed but upmarket beach club setting. The price point is in keeping with the Vale de Lobo location but not too elevated. Still possible to be among the only lunchtime diners early in the week in mid May but be prepared for a much busier scene come peak season. Parking is at a premium near the restaurant so be ready to drop off and hunt for parking.
It's winter at the moment... This is one of the few restaurants open. My partner and I just wanted a drink. We were told to sit in the back end of the restaurant and not near the windows with a beautiful view of the ocean, where we initially wanted to sit. The OBVIOUS place to WANT to sit. We were told they are a restaurant, and not a bar. I thought that was pretty disgusting. Has left a nasty taste in my mouth. Won't be back. There are actually now TWO open tables.
Cataplana was delicious. I also got food envy when I saw the table next to us being brought their salt crust bake whole fish. Staff is very friendly and very helpful, drinks are good and well served. Place is spotless and good interior design (looks new).
