The Merchant Tavern in Akron is a great place for a night out. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff are friendly and attentive. The menu has a wide selection of appetizers, entrees, and drinks, with something to please everyone. The mussels appetizer and steak fondue were especially delicious, and the craft cocktails were expertly mixed. The Thai Mussels and Date Prosciutto Goat Cheese Balsamic Glaze Pizza are must-haves. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the food and drinks are worth it!

Fantastic new place for us. We have driven by many times but the food was fantastic. We had a burger and the poutine. The fries were fantastic. I had gotten the chicken and orzo soup. We made reservations for our group and they required a deposit of $10 person to make a reservation. If I hadn't been handling for others that would have been the end of it and I would not have visited nor eaten to comment on the food. We did visit. I ordered a burger well done and received a burger that was medium rare/red middle. I cut the burger in half which is how I realized it was undercooked. Waitress took it back. About 15 minutes later she returned with my burger - the same burger that I had cut in half! It was more done but still not well done. I'm still queasy about the fact that they take food that has been served and return it to their grill. Fries were limp. Won't be returning. The restaurant is clean and tables spaced so not on top of each other. There is bar side and restaurant side seating. The bar is large with plenty of seating and TV's positioned around. Nice comfortable atmosphere with are menu and drink options. The hamburgers are excellent good size and don't cheap out on options. Good fries fresh cut. Menu has something for everyone. The speciality drinks are excellent and so is their spiced rum. Creative and tasty options plenty. Their bourbon is good not great. Our waiter was excellent checked on us and gave updates on food and drinks orders. Will go again. Worst customer servive i have experienced in years. i was put in a waiting list and told it would be an hour wait. With no room at the bar, we were told they would text me when a table was available. i received a text saying if my party was 21 or older, bar seats were available, which we were not. we returned after an hour and were told we were taken off the list since we didnt respond to their ealier text about taking their bar seats even though a response wasn’t warrented . the manager told us he would put us back on the list, which would be another hour wait. after we showed our displeasure, the worst manager said “or we can take you off their list. which we walked out “FOREVER”!!! I will. NEVER go back!!!!

Waited an hour for our dinner. Had to ask why so long. Another 5 minute wait to say it was burned. Then when the chicken came out, it was still medium rare.
