Visiting Sonoma for the first time, with so many great choices it's difficult to decide on where to eat. We went for tg&tf. The 2 dishes that everyone says are must have are the duck leg confit and the flounder. Even our waiter recommend them. So we went ahead and did it, along with arugula salad, and a pork belly sandwich. So, to be clear, everything was absolutely delicious and flavorful. The duck leg was juicy, falling off the bone tender, and a delight to eat. The flounder was a perfectly prepared flaky fillet with ever so lightly crispy crust and the potatoes and sauce did not overpower it. Nothing at all to criticize on the preparation, or on the favors. This was an awesome meal. However, was it worth $35 per plate? I'm not so sure. I've prepared flounder myself at home that is just as flaky and crispy. I've smoked chicken thighs that are just as juicy and flavorful, and a duck is just so much easier because it's fattier. I'll concede that the sauces are not something I can do. All said, I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and would recommend to anyone who is wanting an outing with someone special. I feel like I lucked out while in Sonoma for 24 hours because everywhere I ate was SO GOOD. Stopped at TG&TF for lunch and it was excellent! Had the grilled cheese which was delicious. And the chips served with dishes are the best I’ve ever had! Friendly staff and was easy to walk in at lunch without a reservation. Came here during a first time visit to the Napa/Sonoma area and this place was highly recommended. We were able to get a relatively last minute reservation online for a party of 4, for 5:30pm. The food standouts for me were the duck liver mousse, flounder, and mussels. The steak in the steak frite was ordered medium rare but it was close to medium well. Lastly, you can bring your own wine here! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Wild Flounder Meunière

Restaurant that specializes in American food with a fig twist. They have a 3 course meal menu that rotates every Thursday. Crispy chicken livers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: really unique combo of fried livers, jam, and aioli. Creamy with the fried livers as a contrasting texture. Bay scallops ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: seared scallops on a bed of risotto and butternut squash. Risotto is cooked perfectly with a good bite, and the sauce has a nice buttery flavor. Scallops are also cooked perfectly. Steak tartare ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: well seasoned but has a strong acidic bite from the capers inside the tartare. Wild flounder meunière ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: soft tender flounder on a bed of mashed potatoes, spinach, and topped with capers. Overall, it is very rich and buttery for a fish dish. Duck confit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: duck confit served on top of lima beans and carrots. Overall done very well but is similar to a lot of other duck dishes out there. Duck comes easily off the but is slightly stringy. Artisan bread ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: soft bread served with whipped butter and salt. Virgin pimms ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: minty cucumbers acidic nonalcoholic drink. Very refreshing but pretty strong minty/leafy flavor. Banana nut bread pudding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: not the biggest fan of banana desserts, but it's pretty mild, and the toasted walnuts are the main flavor. Pudding is a bit more on the bready side but isn't dry at all and has a little bit of caramelized crunch. Pear and cranberry galette ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: galette topped woth a jammy cooked(?) mix of cranberries and pears topped with vanilla ice cream. Solid dessert but personally not the most memorable taste wise.
