We live in a city with a wide range of Asian cuisines on offer but admittedly we’re not familiar with Laotian cuisine. Tamarind was a wonderful introduction. The restaurant has lovely decor and the staff are very professional, friendly and welcoming. We tried the Luang Prabang Tasting Platter for light lunch, and every one of the five items were outstanding in their own way. Two of the items are worthy of special mention, though: the Orlam (a “thick soup” with chicken, mini egg plant, chilli wood and local vegetables), and; the Sai Oua (Luang Prabang Pork Sausage). This delicious tasting platter convinced us to return for dinner before we leave Luang Prabang. At Kip 170K (CDN $11.25) this is incredible value for money. Highly recommended.
Based on all the amazing reviews, I decided to go to Tamarind as soon as I got to LP and it didnt disappoint. Meal at Tamarind is more an experience I must say. I went for their “Five bites” sampler and it was amazing. I also had the Tamarind drink, just fantastic. Staff were all super lovely, and when they brought my meal they explained to me on what they were, how its usually eaten, It was all such a great experience. You can also buy traditional items and they offer cooking classes for those interested. I would recommend Tamarind to anyone visiting Luang Prabang. Like Ive said, its not just a meal, its an experience. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Tasting Platter

Food was amazing. We did the taster explorer menu. Was so full at the end. I will admit the only thing I don't like is the fish mint they use, it just tastes like bad fish Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Tasting Platter

One of the best culinary experiences in Laos. You can clearly see that they put a lot of love and attention into the restaurant. Every detail is well planned like the towels in the beginning and the bamboo chips. If you want to experience reel Lao food while being in a nice setting then look no further Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Beer Lao Gold
Nice location opposite the river! Good vibes, always crowded, and very attentive staffs - thumps up for all those :)) However we found the food to be overwhelmed. The food were too sweet for our liking (especially the laos style vegetable wraps with fillings and curry) Not my favourite place for the food but given it’s highly rated, maybe still worth to try once Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Really outstanding restaurant. First, the food is top-notch. Second, Lao food isn’t super well-known globally, so it is particularly great that they explain the origins of and ingredients in each dish. We got the set menu. The lemongrass stuffed with chicken in particular was one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten in my life — it now forms a core memory and I remember the experience months later. Fantastic. Better book in advance. The whole grilled fish melt in our mouths in a celebration of tastes. The head waiter taught us how to eat our dips with the sticky rice the way local do and it was a great experience. They have fantastic tasters dishes. Best restaurant we dined in in Luang Prabang so far. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Best dinner we had in Luang Prabang. Lemon grass stuffed with chicken and the fish with a banana leaf were excellent. The opening plate was also very good. Eat mostly with your hands, like the locals. Fair price. Highly recommended Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Stuffed Lemongrass Chicken
