Cannot say enough good things about this place OR the chef. This place is a hidden gem and if you have the pleasure of eating here, you are lucky. Top shelf food. Best place in Madeira… 13/10
Plus, the most adorable kitten wondering around is an added bonus.

An unexpected find in rural Madeira. We have been coming to this area for 15 years and it is so great to have a place we can walk to that serves a small but global menu. Great duck confit and steak on the stone. Great wine to our taste and budget and such welcoming service. So happy we can walk to such a great place.

We were here more than a month ago, but it was one of the best restaurants during our stay in Madeira! We enjoyed the food and the friendliness of the staff. We talked about their sweetest kitten, Sunny, and I hope she is doing well ☺️

What an amazing place. We called them twice to make a reservation, but no response. Then, the owner of the place called us back to apologise for not answering because he was busy serving the tables. We immediately got a good feeling because of this, so we booked a table. He said we could come any time (even though they were almost closing already).
We arrived and the place was empty, so we had ourselves a private restaurant. The chef introduced himself along with his wife, staff, and cute kitten. Such gentle people. When it came to food, we got blown away. After speaking a bit with the chef, we learned that he is a highly trained chef that worked all over the world and now opened up his own place in Madeira. This was the best restaurant that we went to on the island, definitely a must-go!

Highly recommend this restaurant. The food was very good, like my boyfriend said "its not just food, it's an experience". Although it wasn't on the menu, there are also options for vegetarians. Very friendly people.

Amazing find! Hidden in remote location but definetley worth the visit! Lovely owners/chefs with slim but seasonal selection of dishes with localy sourced produce. The tuna steak salad and beef steak on a hot stone with fries were 5/5. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely perfect,
We visited the restaurant twice and were surprised by the quality of the food.
The place just has a new chef owner for a few months now and they deserve a succes.
After our first experience we talked to the French chef and immediately made a second reservation for my birthday dinner a few days later…with a special French dish, duck leg and potatoes cooked in goose fat, a classic French dish.
Not on the menu, but was the chefs idea to cook for my birthday.
It’s a small restaurant, but charming and the food is amazing.
Also the price is more than fair.
Great food, wines, desserts, coffee and for 3 people still under €100.
We loved it and recommend is to you all ,

We came at 18:23, hungry. Inside just 2 clients at one table and a family with 3 small children at another. It was raining outside and temperature dropped to around 8-9 Celsius. We waited several minutes for waiter to come. Finally he was passing by, so we asked for menu. He said he can bring the menu in 5-10 minutes because he is alone with the chef. That was strange. We insisted to get the menu, so he brought it few mins later. We ordered water, 2x Tuna Tataki for me and my wife, 1x Osso Bucco for my son and 1x Apple Crumble to share. Nothing too sophisticated. Waiter asked if Tataki should come as main (together with Osso Bucco), so we confirmed.
Water came at 19:00, after we reminded the waiter that we still wait. Tuna Tataki was served at 19:51 (see picture). It took almost 1.5h to prepare it. Ridiculous! In addition it was cold and well done, while it should still be warm and pink inside. They brought 3 portions but we only ordered two. We had to decline getting the additional one.
When we asked when the Osso Bucco will be served, the waiter seemed to be confused. He said it will be soon. Unfortunately we had to wait another 25 mins to get it - meaning almost 2 hours after we sat at the table.
Door was open all the time (purposely blocked to not close accidentally). We were at second table from the door, so we're very cold. The cold wind was blowing straight on us. When after 30 mins we asked the door to be closed, waiter unlocked it and closed, but not precisely, so the wind opened it half way after a minute. Waiter ignored that situation. Several minutes later a couple that was sitting in a corner of a room asked waiter to close it because the partly opened door was now directing the wind their way. He closed it but again after a minute the wind opened it. Waiter ignored that again.
Food was very tasty but overall experience was terrible. Chef is good but slow. Waiter has no clue how service in restaurant should look like.
