We were blown away by the food. That sourdough is amazing and the steak and chicken sandwiches, blew me away. Probably the best sandwich I've had in Taipei. They also had a special of pasta and beef that was like a beef bourgenion that made us want to come back again today.
Super recommend!

Located in Zhongshan in North Taipei this cafe was located conveniently to where we stayed and opened quite early. Service was friendly and the place had a relaxing vibe. Food was of good quality which we enjoyed. Portions seemed sufficient. Coffee was tasty and can recommend the hot honey americano. Definitely a great cuppa to start the day on a fairly chilly morning in Taipei. Would visit again.

Sourdough cheese sandwich was nice!
However, the coffee standard needs improving. I asked for a Cappuccino with an extra shot but they added extra 2 shots instead. It certainly didn’t taste like 3 shots total at all. I could tell from the milk foam that the coffee wasn’t going to be good. See pic, $240 for this wasn’t good value at all.

Was really excited to try Sunriental after seeing multiple posts and reviews online. Unfortunately the experience did not live up to the hype. The coffee was pretty good but my girlfriends Latte was brought out about 15mins before my brown sugar latte. The espresso miso cookie was the highlight, it give that an 8.5/10. The food however was very disappointing. We ordered the steak Sando which was raw in the middle. What’s most confusing that that it’s cut up into 4 segments so you can see this when it’s served. Respectfully, why would you serve a customer raw steak that you can see. My girlfriend is too nice to bring this to the managers attention and asked me not to make a fuss but when this was mentioned at the end, the waiter apologised but didn’t offer to fix it or mention this to the manager. The waiter was very nice during our visit, but I think this deserves to be mentioned. We also ordered the thick cut bacon, egg and cheese croissant which I felt was nuked to oblivion in the oven. The croissants looked great on the shelves but after putting into the oven it’s way too dry.
I hope that my experience was just an exception and that others will have a better one in the future.

As a traveler on the scout of beautiful coffee shop, i was so incredibly disappointed with the service my parents and I received in this coffee shop.
The “ owner “ of the restaurant told us that all the tables were reserved. He did not offer assistance as to how to make reservation for the next reservation and he also did not ask if we want to order coffee to go. His attitude was that of exclusion and arrogance.
Having been to quite a few coffee shops around the world, I cannot believe an entrepreneur in the hospitality business can be so arrogant, condescending and rude.

Front door sign says open on Mon-Sun, but they randomly seem to close on Tuesdays :/
EDIT: I can clearly see that now; but we simply passed by it before and saw the front door hours. I know where it is, and I know the hours: Why would I have to look at Google? If the owner can't care enough to update their hours posted on the front door, I would rather eat at a restaurant that respects the time of their customers.
This is my favorite cafe in all of Taipei! I stumbled upon this little gem on the advice of a neighbor and it quickly became one of my favorite places to grab brunch or a delicious coffee in the whole city. Everything I've ordered off of Sunriental's menu has not only been delicious but the presentation is also exquisite! You never thought it would be possible to make a bowl of muesli and yogurt with fruit beautiful, right? Well, the staff at Sunriental does!
Sunriental is also fantastic if you're crazing a Western-style breakfast or lunch foods (i.e. avocado bruschetta or grain bowls anyone?). It's really hard to find a good salad in Taipei but Sunriental has them. The owner, Elvis, went to culinary school in the U.S. and speaks perfect English. You'll often find him in the store on the weekends serving up gourmet coffee and food with a smile.
I also really enjoy the ambience of the cafe. It's clean, quiet, and has cozy nooks for meeting up with friends or just enjoying a coffee by yourself. It's a calm little oasis when it's a million degrees outside and you just want to enjoy an iced coffee with a croissant or a sandwich baked on fresh sourdough bread.
Did I mention they bake their own bread? It's worth a trip for their fresh-baked breads alone. They also have beautiful desserts like raspberry tartes and dessert croissants. I absolutely recommend Sunriental cafe and love that they're in my neighborhood!
