Post-COVID, Starbucks is no longer the "second place" Howard Schultz aspired for it to be. The atmosphere used to he cozy. Retired guys chatted in comfy chairs. Students studied together at communal tables. Now it's cold, loud, bright and hard.
There are no cozy chairs to sit in--only wooden chairs and small cafe tables. There are no communal tables to plug in and study. I'm sure it's much easier to disinfect, but the place screams, "Get your coffee and get the heck out." It's as inviting as a sterile operating room.
This was my daily local for a decade. I knew the staff by name. Now, I have a nice machine at home and enjoy my latte on my cozy sofa. And, no, I don't use Starbucks beans. I stop by this location less than once a month.
