About
At The Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm in Hilo, one can expect to indulge in exquisite seafood dishes with a Japanese twist. The establishment boasts a serene ambiance with stunning views of the man-made aquaculture pond and the ocean. The interior design is simple yet elegant, with glass windows that allow diners to take in the picturesque surroundings. The price range is on the higher end, but the quality of the food and service more than justifies it. Located 15 minutes away from town, this fine dining spot is perfect for special occasions or a romantic dinner. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes such as Furikake Salmon, Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi, and Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Linguine. For those who prefer non-seafood options, there are also Prime Rib and Lamb Chops available. The cocktails at The Seaside are a must-try, with options like Lilikoi Drop and Lava Flow. Soft drinks and wines are also available to complement the meal. In addition to the delicious food and drinks, The Seaside Restaurant and Aqua Farm has some special features such as outdoor seating and a beautiful koi pond. However, parking can be a challenge, so plan accordingly. Overall, this establishment is highly recommended for those looking for a memorable dining experience in Hilo.

This popular local restaurant is worth considering for dinner, but ensure they have an available table or make a reservation in advance. Despite high expectations from reviews, our dining experience wasn't particularly special. Waiting over 50 minutes for our sushi roll and a mix-up in cooking the fish extended our wait time to over an hour. The Spicy Ahi Bombs were flavorful, the Seaside Roll was okay but had a specific taste we didn't favor, and the Fresh Catch of the day (Ono with linguine) was well-cooked but lacked a distinctive flair.

Very nice view of the water. Our waitress Sam was very good, making sure that we were taking care of and explained the menu items very well. The Ono and scallops are outstanding. The wasabi cream sauce was unlike any other I’ve ever tasted. Save room for dessert, and or after dinner drink because they are top-notch. Such a lovely dinner. My brother and I dined with a gorgeous sunset and he had shrimp rolls seen here. I feasted on Blackened Ahi and took home their bread pudding and ice cream…it almost made it home 🤭😍 I live here and have waited too long to enjoy this blessing! It’s not just dinner- it’s a package ✔️the delicacies/ the service /the prices / the sunset/ the reflections on the water /again the sumptuous meal/mai tais or cocktails or..your drink/ birds flying and swimming peacefully… dreamy 💫thank you #bigislandgem💎 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Volcano Shrimp

So underwhelming. We were hoping for a great upscale dining experience based on the great reviews, but it was a 2/10. Probably a great family place but prices might be high for that. Noisy, very tired decor, lots of tots running around. Food was very mediocre. Huge portions, basic quality. All entrees offered with rice, chips/fries or garlic pasta whether appropriate to the dish or not. Separate sushi menu.... confusing. Service was awesome. We left feeling it was overpriced for essentially a mid level family restaurant, but perhaps we were disappointed as we were looking for a nice quiet upscale meal. Enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh fish overlooking actual fish ponds. Service was excellent. Nathan was very attentive. Everything we ordered was perfect. Especially liked the homemade bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
This little restaurant is a hidden jewel and blessing to the Big Island. I STRONGLY recommend to anyone needing a place to eat that is reasonably priced and of generous portions, MAKE A RESERVATION, and getting here for an absolutely delicious meal! This is on another level. My wife and I shared the calamari appetizer and they were unlike anything I have ever had before. The texture was like fine steak, & of generous portion. The attached pic is is Mahi Mahi, crusted with macadamia nut and panko crumbs, buttered squash and zucchini with the finest brown rice I’ve ever consumed. Our waiter was very helpful, interested and professional. This supper was more an extraordinary culinary experience. To the owners, chef and wait staff…THANK YOU!
I’m visiting from New York and went here based on rave reviews of hotel staff. Our experience was not up to expectations. My husband ordered clam chowder and the potato’s were hard / uncooked and the clams were rubbery. It tasted like canned clams vs fresh. I wanted chicken, but they were out of it. I asked for either the scallops or the salmon plain and learned everything here is pre prepped so there’s no flexibility. Not a smart marketing move to not even have a plain salmon left unprepared. My husband had the Ono and liked it better elsewhere. It was slightly overcooked yet a generous serving. As we were finishing up at 8 pm it seemed as though the staff was ready to close for the evening as we suddenly had 2 wait staff working on our bill. The restaurant quickly emptied. Not a place I’d recommend. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
