Fish and chips shop right on the river. Very clean with benches inside as well as outside. Parking is fairly easy but a walk away. Staff is not friendly nor helpful. The fish was well prepared but had bones. The calamari and chips were too oily. Book in advance to prevent disappointment and conflict. Very unique eating place. On the Buffalo River near the harbor in East London. Fresh fish, calamari and prawns. Really well prepared. Not 5 star but an awesome experience. Will recommend 👌 Meal type Lunch Price per person R 150–200 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
Absolutely stunning venue. There are views from below the bridge of the river and docks where sea rescue is based. Their food is as fresh as it gets with them also being a fish market they catch daily. On entering one might have a short waiting period due to Sea rescue operation being prioritized in the dock. However it is certainly worth it. Staff are friendly and accommodating however don't take reservations which is understandable as they can get quite busy. I highly recommend this stop on your trip in East London. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 500+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Their seafood is top notch! The staff are friendly and the service was quick (even though it was over a weekend and there were quite a lot of people)! And of course, the view over the Buffalo River and bridges are great!
I had the fish burger here and it was delicious!! The place was busy with moms and dads watching the regatta but we managed to find a table to eat from. Service was great and the toilets nice and clean. It’s always a pleasure coming to eat here. One point to notice is the parking needs to be upgraded as after the rain it was one slushy mess!!
We took a local friend for a birthday, the staff made it worthwile. They even offered free shots. We loved the food and the relaxed atmosphere. I am going to pick up a friend from hospital who just had a knee op, I am definitely treating her to a day out. Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Used to be not too bad fish and chips in East London… wont recommend… had no hake, no coleslaw and no tar tar sauce in December when its peak holidays. Area not too great and service is not great. Calamari tasted like I&J fish fingers… there are better places for great quality food in East London to rather support 👎🏻 Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 50–100 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes Fried Fish
I was not a big fan of fish till I tasted fish from here, they serve the best fish and chips. It’s a unique place with the best customer service and the most fresh fried fish. Love the Buffalo River view. Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person R 100–150 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Fried Fish
Used to come for the excellent food but was very let down on our latest visit. We waited over an hour for our food to come. When querying what was taking so long, we were told that there was a miscommunication with the kitchen and our order hadn't even been started yet. It still took a further half hour to receive our food, by which time our two children were screaming and crying because we were now encroaching on nap time. The manager only arrived on the scene once the food was coming out. We were given a free Greek salad and an extra chilli sauce to try and make amends, which we actually could have done without - we ordered what we wanted and no one felt like the extras. The fried food was all very greasy and the prawns were overcooked and very fishy. We suspect that this was all due to the order being rushed after we had to follow up on it a second time. Sadly you pay for your food upfront, so you're basically held hostage until your food comes. We were a table of 7, so it wasn't a small order, but I don't feel that it warrants a wait of an hour and a half for food. We arrived at 12:30 and the restaurant was reasonably quiet when we got there, but we watched them turn table after table while we waited for our food. Such a disappointing experience. The food is very good and fresh. It is a old rustic building that relates to fisherman style, however, I would like to see some basic revamping done to the building - Not much, but a good paint job or basic modernization will go a long way. Never the less, I will return. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
