Our best meal in Portland, by far! The exceptional: The sticky toffee pudding, the bread (with garlic and oil), the king fish crudo, the scallops, the espresso martini, the cava, the halibut The wouldn’t get again but still good: the cod croquettes, the opera cake, the molasses bread Attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable service. Lots of space, and that sweet spot of fine dining without the attitude! Will definitely eat here again given the chance! I'd provide 6 stars if it was an option! Incredible meal at Scales tonight, starting with the professional and warm service from reception. The restaurant is beautiful, charming, and has a nice social atmosphere. Our server was attentive and knew the menu and ingredients inside and out - someone who clearly took pride in his work. My wife and I started with a dozen oysters, which were wonderfully briny, local, and fresh, along with a salmon rillettes that knocked our socks off. We had the prosciutto-wrapped cod and an order of the steamers with sourdough toast for our mains. Living in RI, I've had my share of steamers but these were the most memorable I've ever eaten. Desert and coffee was amazing too. Eating out, even at notable or popular restaurants, has become more expensive and often results in disappointment either in service, food quality, or both. Experiences like tonight are a reminder that great culinary and service experiences are out there and Scales is absolutely one of the greatest restaurants I've ever ver dined in. If you are visiting Portland, book a table and I'm pretty sure you will be wowed. Thanks for an A+ dinner to the Scales team and management, and keep up the amazing work! Scales simply never disappoints! With so many great seafood options this is a must try in Portland. Everything was spectacular and I especially enjoyed the scallop entree. The menu is filled with great options from amazing dinner rolls, full raw bar and a large selection of land or sea entrees. Really no complaints as everything was spectacular. Coming back very soon to try more! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Cloverleaf Rolls with Garlic Butter

Scales is in a beautiful location (right on the wharf) and in an incredible building. The food was superb, especially the cold dishes (raw oysters, scallop tartar). The service was good and they were able to accommodate our party without a reservation. Plus, if you show up early or are waiting for your reservation, there are places to lounge at the bar! There was no kids menu, so I would say it’s a no go if you’re bringing little ones. But they made an off-menu grilled cheese when asked!
