This was a last-minute spontaneous reservation so we didn't know what to expect. As we entered the facility we could hear the pleasant sound of live music and happy customers enjoying their dining experience. We were promptly greeted and seated at a table perfectly positioned to be able to enjoy the live music and the ambiance of the decor. We were extremely satisfied with the diversity and the quality of the menu, each item was plated professionally, artistically, and with great emphasis on originality and flavor. After our meal members of the management team took the time to approach us to ensure our meals and experience were enjoyable, we learned that each menu item is locally sourced and carefully hand-selected to ensure freshness and quality. We had an amazing dining experience and we are excitedly looking forward to our next visit. Thank you Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette staff for being so courteous and professional and demonstrating such pride in what you do. This is our favorite restaurant to dine at whenever we are in the Monterey Area, but the last time we were there we had brunch, which was amazing! The quality of the food is superb, the location is beautiful, with a modern-rustic flair and the service is top-notch! I can't wait to come back. My wife and I went here last Sunday for dinner while we were staying at the Santuary. What we hoped would be a nice dinner was very dissappointing. My wife ordered the 24 hour short rib in a BBQ sauce. We both were expecting a tender beef short rib falling off the bone. What she got was a 2 inch by 2 inch cube of steak. No bone and looked to be seared all around. We have both had and enjoyed many short rib dinners and this was the worst. It wasnt even a short rib. I ordered the honey glazed duck. I got a half a duck breast that had almost no flavor. Couldn't taste honey or duck. We ordered the sides of mashed potatoes and a side of carrots. The very thick gravy on the potatoes tasted "off" . The mashed potatoes themself were good but the gravy was not. The carrots were bland. The entire dinner and 2 drinks came to just under $200. Although the meal had the look of fine dining the quality and taste were not. Not worth the money we spent and would not go back to this restaurant again. Too many better options in Monterey or Carmel just down the road. We spent the rest of the night reminiscing on how dissappointed we were with our dinner. We had an amazing experience, started with fresh squeezed juice, and oyster shooters. I can’t say enough the oysters were so fresh and tasty you can have a dozen in a heartbeat. We ordered the bakers Benedict and it was amazing everything perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was incredible.
