It's been about five years since I've been to Saigon Kitchen and today my husband and I decided to come for a late lunch. It was pretty empty when we arrived which was great because we were starving. We were greeted right away and given some menus to look over and some glasses of water. After a few minutes we decided on some pork egg rolls for an appetizer. For our main courses my husband ordered the firecracker shrimp and I ordered the lemongrass shrimp. We asked that the egg rolls come out first. Our eggs rolls came pretty quick and were so hot. We had to wait a few minute to eat them, but they were very good. Our food followed soon after, but not at the same time. Mine came out first and a few minutes later my husbands. We obviously want to eat together so I didn't start until he had his. It went downhill from here unfortunately. For over $20 a plate we both were shocked at how small the portions were. Our shrimp in both dishes was so over cooked and dry. My rice was over cooked as well. My husbands food was supposed to be spicy, but even I ate a bite and it had not only no spice but no real flavor at all. Everything was so bland. Our experiences years ago were definitely very different. We left bummed and hungry since neither one of us finished our meals. Bummer. Decor was nice and location clean. Again, service was great. Went for impromptu date night dinner tonight at Saigon Kitchen. It was wonderful as usual. Tonight we had to sit in the SK Lounge portion of the restaurant due to a long wait in the main dining room, but it was so fun and relaxing that we’ll probably sit in the lounge all the time now. Dinner was delicious and we ordered a dessert, as well. I always enjoy the service at Saigon and tonight was no different. Ordered two different plates of fried rice one chicken, one shrimp and pork. Both were awful!! Dry, cold, chewy with way to much sauce fried into it. They suggested adding more of the very sweet soy sauce to it…now awful sweet dry soy sauce rice. I brought it home for the dogs but on further inspection the chicken tasted wierd and the pork was so old and dry and had a old awful taste. Neither of us could eat it. At $47 for two awful rice dishes I do not recommend. Dogs didn’t get it either. Hope we don’t get sick. The pics below are of the dishes after we added a half bowl of broth to try to reconstitute it. Clean and edible, that’s about it. Everything we tried was so bland. Even the dishes we got that had warnings for heat, were sooo bland. Not a spice to be seen. Noodle dish was dry as well. I wonder if the food is so bland because so many people in the area are a bit on the older side. Staff was neither good, nor bad. Very pricey for what it was, will not go back. Not only did our server ignore us, but when my wife asked if the chicken curry was spicy, the server said no. Turns out, it was very spicy for her. We waited for a long time and had to get up and ask for a to go box and our check. Once we got our check, I said politely, your service is not up to par and the host laughed at me. We did speak with the manager about this and she did apologize. We feel for the money we spent, the service should be better. We will not visit this place again. First and foremost, Vanessa our hostess turned server was absolutely incredible. Very attentive and came by at the perfect times! She gave great recommendations and she was very patient with it being our first time. Next, the food, it was very delicious! Something for everyone and everything we had was tasty! I'd say you can't go wrong. Drink was a bit small for the price, but the taste made it all worth it! Coming back here for sure for our date nights! Great experience! Update 9-28-23 this still remains our favourite Vietnamese restaurant. Today we were fortunate to have Brandon as our server and he was wonderful. We also were unaware that they have a fabulous happy hour that goes all the way from 11 am to 6 pm with lots of yummy food available and great drink prices. We now live over 90 miles away so every time we come to the West Valley, we make sure to put this as a stop. We highly recommend. They also have great Wi-Fi. Saigon Kitchen is the best Vietnamese restaurant we have ever been to. We had the shrimp and vegetable spring rolls - peanut sauce was superb. We followed that with Pho chicken and vegetable soup. Visiting town and the food was so fresh and tasty. Service outstanding and very clean. Mickey was our server, he gave us good recommendations. Sangria was GREAT! We order fresh and egg roll vegetarian, my dad order the pork roll for appetizer. I order the Pho veggie, my sister veggie yakisoba, my boyfriend filet mignon yakisoba everything so yummy. Loved it! Please delight your palate in this restaurant.

Love Saigon Kitchen, the food is as always top notch. My wife and I love eating and drinking in the lounge. Andy and Johnny always make us feel welcome. We've never had a bad meal or service here.
