Nice restaurant, the staff is really nice, helpful and fun!
The place is relatively small but has tables both inside and outside. My cousin and I tried the typical Madeira bread “Bolo do caco” served hot, it was excellent! then we tried the rice with seafood and the spaghetti with seafood, both very tasty but the spaghetti remained more watery than the risotto! Generous portions, good value for money!

Seafood
Situated in the city center on a less crowded street, this restaurant's exterior might not hint at the exceptional cuisine it offers. We dined there twice; the seafood was the finest I've ever tasted, served in generous portions. Their sandwiches were also delectable. Their homemade Poncha is robust and flavorful. In addition to the excellent food, it is surprisingly affordable, making it the most budget-friendly option among the restaurants we visited.

Restaurant setting is very relaxed and we chose to sit outside. Staff was attentive and service prompt and very pleasant. We ordered the scabbard fish with banana and the traditional Madeira steak (medium). Serving sizes were very generous and beautifully presented, so colourful. The fish dish was fabulous. I think the steak was overdone, not medium. Regardless, we finished our food. Poncha was blended at our table and a glass was served to us. So disappointed that the balance in the jug was not left for us to refill, LOL.
Overall, it was a good meal and we enjoyed it. Would have been perfect if the steak was done to medium.

What a great choice for affordable local food with a brilliant service. We really enjoyed our dinner here, the waitress was super welcoming and friendly. We had the espetada and tuna steak as well as some bolo de caco for a starter. Everything was really well cooked, the meat was medium rare as requested and very flavourful. We had a side of sweet potato which was a super generous portion and the waitress brought over a sugarcane syrup for me to try as I said I enjoyed the local custom of mixing sweet and savoury flavours together. It really went very well with the sweet potato! I would highly recommend this place, it's tucked away from the main tourist area and really has a nice chill atmosphere.

We have travelled a month on the island. Food is simple but has great flavor. The chef and lady work there put their smiles and hearts into this place.

Very good food, more than decent the prices and good service. Located in an area less on tourist path, let's say, but close to it, worth eating here especially the seafood rice which is a sort of paella - very tasty and big portions for one person. We totally recommend it!

Situated on a side street where you might see more locals than tourists (usually a good sign for proper food), this little restaurant is a gem. We had three different fish dishes and shared among us and any one of them was delicious. The Tuna was sill soft and savory, the scabbard dish with banana a tasty treat and the codfish just melted in your mouth.
Add to that the very friendly service, fresh pressed orange juice and surprisingly moderate prices and you get the perfect lunch.

Scabbardfish with Bananas
Very, very good food, perfect service and such a friendly atmosphere (thank you! :) ).
There was also a veggie option which made my friend quite happy (in Funchal it can be hard to eat as a vegetarian). We ordered the bolo (traditional "bread" with garlic and parsley) and tomato soup as a starter, the traditional fish with banana (surprisingly good! I loved it!), and the veggie dish (which they then explained it was a Venezuelan dish - really tasty as well!).
We liked everything and we definitely recommend it!!
