Probably the top of upscale night life experience in Minneapolis. Great views of downtown and nice lounge area. If weather is warm you can enjoy sitting outside. Cocktail are a bit pricy but I understand the reasoning behind it. You will meet some interesting people there for sure. I haven't had food there so I can't say anything about food quality. Overall, great atmosphere Oh I forgot to say that the hot tub is next door and you can see people enjoying the hot tub from the lounge/bar area and some come to the bar to get a drink with their robes!

We unfortunately didn’t have a great experience here after being excited to try it out on my birthday. It’s a gorgeous location, view, and bar area. There are only a few tables on the exterior, though, to get the skyline view.
We got there at 5:15 on a Tuesday and were pushed out of the way by another group to get the last table. We waited 2 hours on the couch inside and not a single table left during that time. They’re not seated by staff, so many other groups that arrived after us were also walking around trying to find any tables opening up. It made it very stressful and would have been much better if seating was first come first serve.
I tried the spritz and it was a good cocktail. The bartender was nice but other servers went up to everyone except for us at other tables/couches for drink orders. Overall, not really worth trying unless you get there right when they open at 5pm if you want skyline views.
Nice atmosphere, but when paying for nice cocktails, receiving them in plastic glassware was very disappointing. The cocktails were not great, but it could have been an off night. I was also surprised the mezcal was not served with an orange slice. Service was quick and the staff was friendly.
I have consistently had excellent service at the restaurant & rooftop lounge bar. The staff seems very skilled & attentive even when clearly busy. It is such a chic restaurant with the special perk of a rooftop with a Downtown skyline view. (I wish they would take reservations on the rooftop because “first come first serve” makes it impossible to plan with a group)
Returned to the Hewing Bar & Lounge on our current trip to Minneapolis. It is a fantastic bar, well worth the expense. Josh was my mixologist on this visit, and he is truly a chemist, listening to my request to a Mezcal forward Old Fashioned. It was wonderful. Hewing is one of the best bars in Minneapolis. Ignore that it’s a hotel bar because the Hewing is a Minneapolis one off.

First, the location is amazing and the drinks are very good. The problem is the manager. Because of them I was severely disappointed with the bar.
Service was slow but this wasn’t the faculty of the waiters. The manager had hired only 2 people for a very busy night, all tables were super full and people kept coming. Obviously the waiters had to overwork. It took 30 minutes for us to get the check.
I think the manager should be better with the schedule to keep service quality high.
A bustling but lovely rooftop bar, great for before or after dinner cocktails if you can get a seat. The cocktails are delicious and the waitstaff is super friendly. We are looking forward to coming back to try out the rooftop pool and returning for more rooftop cocktails!
Bartender asked to see our id after we already shown it to one of the other bartender. He saw us took our shot but still ask us for it and then threw the tab at my friend. Rude service and racist. Better places out there to spend your night.

My favorite summer rooftop for a great cocktail. While their cocktails are on the pricey side, you’re paying for a high quality exceptional drink. Make sure you arrive early because it gets busy on weekends and doesn’t have a lot of seating!
We had a great evening on the roof top patio after a Twins game! Highly recommend the Hewing Hotel. The drinks were great and the environment was fantastic. Staff was fast to serve us and very friendly. This is a must stop if you are in the area! 10/10.
