This is a new breakfast restaurant in North Charleston serving breakfast and lunch. We got a table right away and our server was Sonya, if you go ask for her you won't be sorry. She is great.i used to be a regular at another restaurant where she worked for 14 years. I am so glad to find her again. You can bet we will be regulars at Rise and shine from now on. The service here is fantastic. The food is BOMB!!! I swear these were the best pancakes I've ever had. So good I didn't even need syrup. i didn't care for the grits. they 1) had wayntoo much butter and 2) too runny for me. My husband loved them though. The service was good, no complaints about the food. It was a party of 11 men. The area which was set up, was way to tight behind the chairs for someone to walk behind the chairs even the waiter who did a great job, had to squeeze behind the chairs to get to the next person or to take orders or to deliver the food. My wife and I wanted a nice breakfast, so I chose this place. The service was good, but the silverware definitely had seen better days. So, we asked the server for plastic silverware. I chose the rise and shine omelette which came with pancakes as a choice. My wife had the chorizo omelette and also had pancakes. We felt the omelettes were okay, but didn't have enough cheese and just an abundance of egg. The pancakes tasted like the ones I typically make at home. The service was great. Ordered Sweet Cream Pancakes, Veggie Omelet and Ham & Cheese Omelet. The omelets were good; however, we didn't care for the breakfast potatoes. They seemed almost like microwaveable. They didn't taste or look like they were done on a griddle or in skillet. I wish the omelets came with a side AND toast. I also wish they provided turkey or chicken sausage or even then plant based option. The pancakes were the star of the show. Fantastic!!!! Update: 7/4 still amazing place to eat and the prices are just awesome. Please give this place a try.🥞🤤🤤🤤 Breakfast was amazing and so good! This is a huge must try place. Pancakes are light and fluffy. French toast was cooked perfectly. Coffee is bitter and strong. The sweet tea was delicious. The staff are friendly and hard working. Enjoyed breakfast. Except at 10am on a Sunday...no biscuits for the sausage gravy. Homefries and grits good. Eggs Benedict was overcooked (yolk hard) and the hollandaise sauce wasn't good- need to get a better mix or recipe for it. Waitress was good and attentive. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

I'll start with the positive, the sweet cream pancakes and French toast were very good. The biscuits and gravy combo was not good. The gravy tasted like chicken gravy with sausage added it was even a pale brown color and very runny, not at all the country gravy I was expecting. The biscuits were sliced and grilled, not sure if that's why they were hard and salty, reminded me of day old Popeyes biscuits that had been grilled to heat them up. If you are wanting some decent pancakes and eggs you will be fine but if you're looking for anything else don't waste your money here. I'll just make my own biscuits and gravy at home.
