Rio's Cafe, a Californian-inspired hidden gem in the heart of Tofo, Mozambique, is the best addition to our little village. It's an absolute treat for the taste buds to go here, offering (vegan) cinnamon buns, muffins, sourdough loaves, savoury delights and more.
My favourite is the Kalamata and homemade sundried tomatoes sourdough loaf.
She also provides a cozy spot to sit and enjoy a cold brew, espresso or Thai iced tea.
What makes Rio's Cafe even more exciting is the ever-evolving menu. But shh, let's keep this gem to ourselves—I wouldn't want to have to share all those delicious treats!

When I first had the tomato-cream cheese bagel, I knew I had to go back.
When I had the vegan Cinnamon Bun, I thought I’m dying in food heaven and come back after I finished. Melting in your mouth with the best dough and cinnamon taste I had in a very, very long time. Totally unexpected, makes it even more special ✨

Rio's pastries are such a gem. Fresh and delicious, every time there's some amazing surprise, which makes my day. This place is one of the reasons why Tofo is so special: super remote, yet you can still enjoy the highest quality food. You can really tell it's all made with love.

There’s no other place like Rio‘s in Tofo (probably not even in the entire country)! Their baked goods, both savory and sweet, are top top notch 🤌🏼 plus great coffee, fresh juices and the kindest staff!
My personal faves: their grilled veggie sandwich, (vegan) cinnamon bun, macadamia oat coffee and watermelon juice!
Pro tip: check their Insta for the latest news on what’s available (and pre-order) as they don’t offer their entire range every day and are sold out fast sometimes.
Only con: I wish they would open earlier in the morning and every day of the week.

Rio’s bakes are not only incredible for Tofo, Mozambique, they’d be incredible anywhere in the world. The quality and standard is unbelievably high. She lovingly prepares creative, inclusive and delicious food. We look forward to her opening days and what she’ll come up with each week. Her opening has been the most exciting addition to the food scene in Tofo. Congratulations and long may your bakes and successes continue.
