Oh my God I never had such a bad experience paying to eat a meal.
The waitress treat you like you are not going to pay for the food later literally (I think you know what I mean) and the captain/chef/owner is no different!! 🤦 There's only two table they are serving at that time🤷
Swear will not come again and the food is overrated and expensive!! Don't know why got good review for this place???

Another discovery... The best steamed fish place in Mentakab
Don't take my word for it - this was actually conveyed by a good friend of mine who lives here. He happens to be my customer as well, so once in a while I will visit him at his factory. One fine day, he jio me to have lunch after visiting his factory to look at his products.
His mood must be very good that day - he made a phone call and then said to me "I know you like to eat river fish. Come, I'll bring you to the best steamed fish place in town". I was so touched I almost cried and dropped on the knees and praise the lord (wait.. I suck at using this phrase).
From outside, I wouldn't have expected this restaurant to have river fish. Then it suddenly hit me that I shouldn't judge a book by its cover!
◾Steamed kerai fish - weighing more than 2kg, the fish was dissected expertly and cleaned thoroughly before steamed with nothing but ginger. Doused with light & sweet soy sauce + garnished with parsley before served. I could taste the freshness and sweetness of the wild fish meat. Heavenly.
◾stir fried petai, minced dried shrimps and onion with sambal - fragrant and addictive stuff to complement the lunch.
◾braised beancurd skin - nothing special but then it wasn't meant to steal the fish's thunder.
◾Homemade chilly sauce - Mentakab is also famous for their homemade chilly sauce using cili padi to blend with garlic without any preservatives or additives.
It pays to have many good friends who love to eat as much as I do. His order was spot on because he wanted me to enjoy the fish without other dishes to distract me.

The food has that home cooked feel. The steamed patin fish was the highlight for the night. The proprietor was friendly and we had an overall pleasant meal. Restaurant isn't air conditioned and the kids had an inquisitive time staring at the lizards on the wall.

The prawns were delicious especially the steamed prawn heads. It's the first time I ate deer tendon and it was really superb. Will definitely make this into a stop for any future road trips.
Too hungry forgot to take photo, ordered steamed catfish, boss very friendly explained to me they have so n so fish with this weight. VERY fresh VERY tasted and cost <rm40, for this fish, very reasonable, recommended!!
The fried rice is very nice here ! But if u are trying to order the fried rice for take away but in only a few packs... sometimes they will not take ur order... maybe lazy? Or maybe that small amount of money doesn't worth their time ?
