Luna Azul or Blue Moon. So sorry, but my experience with the amount of food for the money was not as expected; more like Lunar Eclipse. Friday night, came here because my usual place was closed due to staff shortage. This Luna Azul was lower on the Google Maps search list than other places further away. Now it makes sense. Couldn't see the place from the road because the signs are unlit, old, dirty, dingy and it's dark with no lighting in the parking lot, either. Feels unsafe. Strike one. Staff was very attentive, friendly, enthusiastic, and nice. They seem to enjoy working there. All smiles, which made me feel welcome. Ball one. Cashier said someone stole the outdoor light bulbs from the entrance a week ago. God, They've had an entire week to screw in a few bulbs, let alone light up their sign. Posted a picture taken days later at dusk--still no bulbs. But once inside, updated prices on the commercial sign indoors are all posted with pieces of paper written in magic marker. Foam plates and clamshells are all stacked in a pile on the side counter. Ordered the 40-dollar family combo. Yes, got the 1/2 gallon of rice with 8 pieces of chicken--can get more chicken than that in a bucket with all kinds of side orders and a 2-liter soda at KFC for 24-something dollars. How far down goes the rabbit hole go? The clamshell rang hollow; was only half full of fries--about the same as a large order of fries for one person at Burger King. Strike two. Got this itty-bitty 32-oz Pepsi--Jesus, the usual 2-liter is only around $1 wholesale. Also got a tiny cup of boneless ribs. The cup of spare ribs is the size for a soup appetizer for 1 person. Strike three. The bag felt way too light for 40-dollars worth of Chinese takeout with mostly rice. Even Dynasty in Mayagüez has an all-you-can-eat buffet for less than 20 dollars. Enough people seem to like the this Luna Azul, so it seems useless to complain. Left without saying a word--doing them the favor of not coming back. Ugh! Can get way more value for a lot less than the forty dollars at the place downtown in front of the Inter-American University where they offer a big box chock full of the best fries ever, a big heavy box of boneless ribs, and big box of chicken with a quart of rice--can feel the value at the place downtown in the weight of the bag on the way home with less rice and lots more of the side-order meat.
