Do yourself a favor and try this place. If you like Mexican food you will love Honduran food. Food here was freshly made, tasty and prepared with love. So many different and interesting flavors. Homemade Central American food at its best. Owners are awesome and provide a clean, warm, friendly atmosphere. You will not be disappointed! I lived in Honduras for 3 1/2 years and I was so excited to find a place that serves authentic Honduran food!!! The Baliadas are terrific! You can get them sencillo (simple), a breakfast (add eggs and avocado) or filled with meat. Today I tried the Pupusas (typically a Salvadoran food) and they were spot-on. I also tried the chicken and pork Tamales and I was so excited to find they were wrapped in banana leaves. So delicious!!!! The service has been quick and friendly and the owner brings you a warm plate of Platanos maduros with some Honduran crema (like sour cream but less sour) with some cojita cheese crumbled on top! I highly recommend this Restraunt!!!! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Tamales

Buen servicio. Me encantó 😋 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
My partner and I had the utmost pleasure of visiting the new spot in town, Hondureño Matute Bustillo in McHenry, IL. They are a new restaurant in town located at 4113 W Shamrock ln, Mchenry, Illinois 60050. I was pretty ecstatic to see one like this open nearby as I'm half Honduran myself and miss the food so much. I had to stop in for dinner tonight, so my partner and I did just that. First things first, this is a NEW restaurant, I wasn't expecting perfection. I walked in and was greeted by the lady at the front counter, I didn't catch her name, woops. She spoke English and Spanish by the way. She had us seated with the menus. The place was not busy, although a few people did pop in after we arrived(around 5:30pm ish). There was a variety of familiar Honduran dishes that I enjoyed on the menu as I scanned it. She took our drink order. My favorite that I ordered, Tropical Banana Soda(you need to have this with your meal here or else you're not truly living like a Honduran) and my partner got a glass bottle of Coca Cola(🙄). The lady serving us was very kind and explained the menu items to my partner who asked. The place was on par with Honduran pride with the Honduran flags, Honduran clock, Honduran music( Punta music, look it up, and a TV displaying their menu items, which may have prompted me to order one more item later on 🤔😄). We received a fried sweet plantain drizzled with Honduran crema and queso duro appetizer plate(another very popular Honduran treat) and shortly after our orders came in a timely matter, my order was Caldo De Res( a soup with beef, vegetables like yucca, plantain, cabbage, carrots, etc.) and my partner's Baleada with steak in it. I had a little conversation in Spanish with the lady during our time there, told her I had family in Honduras, she as well. Back to the food, My soup was exactly as I've had before when I visited Honduras, delicious pieces of beef in a salty soup broth with all the fixins'(side of rice and their tortillas ( I think they were homemade, they sure tasted like the ones I remember from there)). I asked the lady if she could get me a Honduran tamale to go, because I couldn't miss having that, which by the way is different than all the other tamales you ever had 😏, so go try one. Anyway, my partner's baleada was massive and filled very well with all the fixins' he asked for and he LOVED it. He said he needs to come back and have more, he's a meat and potato guy, so I was surprised to hear that coming out of his mouth, but I agree, he should because baleadas are one of the best Honduran foods that you need to have, it's obligatory when you go to a Honduras restaurant, okay? So, there was so much food, we had leftovers to take with us. We took to go boxes/containers. The lady was very attentive overall during our time there and asked us how our food was, my partner was so happy to let her know how much he liked his baleada. I was pretty satisfied with my caldo de res, perfect for this Winter weather especially. We got to the front to pay and gave her a hefty tip in the tip jar. By the way, did I mention we went there for our 10 year anniversary? We had a wonderful time and think you're missing out on this lil gem of ethnic food. 🇭🇳 Overall, we had a positive experience there. Now I'm off to bed and gonna go have my tamale for lunch tomorrow, night. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
First time coming and we were greeted as we walked in. Waitress was very friendly and gave us a plantain appetizer which was delicious. Plantains were fried with cream and cheese on top. My husband and I ordered baleadas, which were also delicious. Definitely coming back! Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
