Had a really beautiful dinner at Favilla. We tried the seafood and lobster rice, the octopus risotto, T-bone steak, seafood soup, and shrimp salad. To drink we had a few bottles of Prosecco. The service was great. The only thing that required some seasoning was the seafood lobster rice, but a dash of salt and pepper did the trick. The octopus risotto was super cheesy and creamy. I really enjoyed it. Don’t forget the dessert, we tried a few and they were all delish.

Lobster and Seafood Rice
Lovely restaurant, the best food we tried in Funchal! Booked for Friday night but we had to change it to Saturday and they were very accommodating! Arrived to a lovely setting on the terrace and lovely bread and oils and amuse bouche. The menu is very well priced. I tried the fish soup which was lovely and my partner had the chicken samosas. I then had the cafe de paris tenderloin and partner had pork cheeks. Both were lovely. Menu had a lot of great choices! This restaurant has really thought about the small details such as plates and cutlery, it was all very nice and a lovely place to spend the evening. They flambé in front of your table and our creme brulee and crepes suzette was a wonderful finish to the evening. Special mention to the waiters and staff who were all lovely and very attentive! Thank you for a great meal on our last night in Funchal!

Creme Brulee
Excellent cooking. We came for a lunch near the end of our trip, as we were staying close by and fancied going somewhere else than the hotel that day. We'd noticed Favilla earlier, and chanced a visit. We sat outside on the terrace with the garden and view of Reids. Good range of tables in the shade and sun. We had the octopus, grilled fish and shrimp risotto. All were cooked very well and with clear skill. The octopus was one of the best I've had in all my trips to Madeira, by a long shot. The shrimp in the risotto was very generous. We decided to go for dessert, and the passion fruit pannacotta and the creme brulee were also very tasty. Quite generous portions as is typical for the island. This is an excellent addition to an area that is primarily a mix of hotels and more tourist-targeted restaurants. We would gladly visit again on our next trip to Madeira!

Best meal during our time in Funchal. Everything was excellent. Friendly attentive staff, nice ambience and amazing food. We can definately recommend the seafood and lobster rice, more than enough for 2 people and delicious.

Although we were only in Funchal a week, we ate here twice as the food and service were so good. Apparently this restaurant has only been open a matter of months but it's certainly doesn't seem that way - it's all very slick, from the snacks and bread offered immediately through to the dishes themselves. First visit I had risotto that was described as being with pieces of sea bream but in fact was a whole fish. The risotto was full of flavour, so on my return I tried the squid ink version which was equally good, having had lapas to start (and told how to eat them the correct way). Although I didn't have one, the crepe suzette preparation was quite the show!

All of the dishes we tried had noticeable fresh taste and ingredients. You can say they were prepared with the right technique, especially the flambée options, where you get to watch this lovely lady flambéing your meal right in front of you. You definitely do not want to miss the handmade samosas! These were the absolute best we ever had!
The restaurant has a modern yet comfortable vibe to it and the whole atmosphere is quite pleasant and relaxed. The service does not lack behind either.
Put simply, the food tastes just as good as it looks, or even better. Do yourself a favour and visit this place when you are around!

Tasty food, well presented. Lovely terrace with a view. Special mention to the staff. I knocked something over during our meal and caused a bit of a mess but the waiters, without fuss or judgement, quickly had me back in the condition I was in before my accident. We will come again.

We food was good and tasty, but nothing special for that price.
The service was friendly, but sometimes we got some unnecessary comments from the waitress and felt like children in the school. It did not feel relaxed.
