The best Indian restaurant in the world! The menu features a wide variety of dishes, catering to both adventurous palates and those seeking the comfort of familiar classics. The chef's dedication to using fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident in every bite. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. What truly set this restaurant apart was its super cozy atmosphere. The warm and inviting ambiance made it an ideal setting for a relaxed meal or a special celebration. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this Indian gem while in Kristiansand. Very nice place but it’s very expensive and it’s like Norway in general prices everything so highly expensive. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person kr 300–400 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Champain Biryani
The restaurant is in the basement of a building and has a very cozy interior. The roofs are lined with indian clothing, very tasteful design. The food is alright. It does get quite busy. The food and service at Mother India is top tier, and even with a very large group during the Eat Out week, they were able to accommodate all of us and went above and beyond to help. It's a restaurant with extremely good and authentic Indian food, but a very long waiting time. It was well worth the wait to all of us who dined there, however. I would have given them a 5/5, but it's absolutely not a wheelchair accessible restaurant due to its basement location. Anyone with any mobility issues may want to reconsider, especially if there's a queue, and if you require a wheelchair this place is unfortunately simply not an option. We were here based on the good ratings but we were quite disappointed by the food. We ordered a chicken dish which tasted very weird, not even closer to any Indian spices. Also ordered from kids menu for the kids, but the food was not kids friendly at all. The service was good however. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 2

Great and cozy atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staffs that speak English. I’d the Chili Chicken level 6 (you can choose the spicy level from 2-6) but it wasn’t spicy to me. A small bowl of Chili Chicken + Rice cost around 299NOK, which is really expensive. It was a great experience, food is normal but might be one of the better Indian cuisine in the area(?) but too expensive. Recommend for anyone to try but I won’t go back again. It would cost <30% of the price back in my country. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner
I was looking forward to it based on the reviews but we were really not impressed. Waited more then 1 hour for our food but when it arrived... the naan was cold, the rice had chuncks in it. My king prawns curry was way too watery and the mixed vegetables curry of my wife was like thick boiled down gravy. The curries we way too overpowering of the flavours. We ate at a lot of Indian restaurants all over the world but this one has no spot in our top 10 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
Billed as the best restaurant in Kristiand, we entered the unassuming tiny entrance and decended the stairs to join the queue to be seated - this place is popular. It took only 10 minutes before we were shown to our reserved table by a very aplogetic manager. The waitresses glided around the tables with uncanny precision. Decor was the usual, tasteful Indian design and the eating area itself was more like a large colourful tunnel which added to the atmosphere. A good selection of the usual suspects were on the menu and I went with the lamb at strength 5 which was perfect. Small but interesting range of drinks including a house beer. The prices were on the North side of average, some beers costing Kr.175,- a glass which is x3 times price of the previous beer in a local pub minutes before. The food averaged out at Kr.300,- which again is around 30% more than I usually pay. At that level I wouldn't say the prices are family friendly but OK for singles or couples. But looking around the place was spotless, a bottle of disinfectant on each & every table and everyone social distancing so I could relax and enjoy my meal. It was in a prime location and judging by the amount of people dropping in, they do a roaring trade in the takeaway department. All in all a very delicious but expensive experience! You should try it if you are in Kristiansand, but best to book ahead, we went on a Monday evening just after 18:00 and the people behind us were asked to come back 4 hours later!
