I recently had the opportunity to dine at Red Ginger in Traverse City, and it was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant offers a culinary journey through Asian cuisine, masterfully blending traditional flavors with modern twists. Each dish I tried was a delight, showcasing both the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. The drink menu at Red Ginger is decent, offering a good selection that complements the food well. Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or something more adventurous, you'll find something to enjoy. What truly stood out at Red Ginger was the amazing staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and attentive service. The staff was knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and ensuring our dining experience was perfect in every way. Red Ginger is an ideal choice for dinner anytime you're in Traverse City. Whether it's for a special occasion or a casual night out, the combination of excellent food, decent drinks, and outstanding service makes it a must-visit destination. It's a place where every meal feels like a special event, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. Red Ginger is very good for an upscale sushi experience without too much of the intrusive, “hip” elements you’d find at comparable places. Highly recommend grabbing a reservation ahead of time as it can be busy. A bit loud at peak times, but not the worst I’ve experienced by any means. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options are clearly labeled which earns big points for me. Our service was solid and we never went without refills. You can get a similar culinary experience and often a cheaper (and slightly tastier) sushi roll at other places, but this is a downtown restaurant in a very touristy part of Michigan. This was great for a fancy outing on a casual visit to Traverse City for us. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
We did not know it had a dress code until we walked up, thankfully we were dressed to part that day or that would have been awkward. Prices were a bit more than expected, might have cued in if we knew of dress code, but we did not. Not a problem just nice to know beforehand when possible. All that being said, the food and service was great! We sat at the bar because the place was packed, and well deserving. Knowledgeable staff of drinks and food pairings, I'm forgetting the names but 2 guys helped and talked to us that day behind the bar. Great energy about the town as well. We tried a few different things, but stuck to our classic salmon sashimi as it's a fav. Nice slices, very good fish that tasted and looked quality. I mean look at the pics. Delicious pork bag buns and Lobster Dynamite roll. Lots of things sounded good, but the price was a bit much for what we were hoping was a quick and yummy lunch. Again, a little more research we would have seen the dress code, but lots of the menu was pricey. Wish we tried more but we had to eat and run! Cannot remember the drinks we had, but they were very good. Will for sure be back. The service, fod, and even presentation were exceptional. Some of the best thai curry we've had, even including local thai restaurants. The sushi was really fresh. Interesting take on the chicken wings, which were great, but the chicken was a little thin. The Naan was also great, even though it was a little thick. Great atmosphere and music also. All in all, some of the best all-around Asian food in the area and we couldn't ask for better service. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Small and intimate spot that offers exceptional service (thank you Tiffany), a great vibe and some of the best Sushi I have had in years. We had Chef Dan Special and Seared Salmon which also holds tuna and yummy goodies that were a flavor experience. Waits can be long at peak time so don't be shy about grabbing a spot in the bar/lounge as service is very attentive and comfortable setting. So happy a local friend recommended! "Red Ginger" undoubtedly sits atop our list of favored dining establishments. Its atmosphere exudes elegance, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience complemented by impeccable service. Don't miss the chance to indulge in their delightful Thai curry and the calamari appetizer—both dishes have undeniably earned their place as must-tries every time we visit.

The food is absolutely fantastic with nothing falling short of the mark. Drinks were great, sushi wonderful, as was the miso cod. Will definitely be back. This is the third time we've tried to eat here. I made a reservation online for a birthday girl. The table was ready at the time requested. The service was very professional, and the menu options are broad. We really enjoyed the pacing of the meal, you can enjoy conversation and drinks. This isn't to say it was slow, we ordered and the food came fairly quickly, just that they staggered the orders as we ate. Everything was very flavorful with our only possible issue being that our yuzu roll fell apart everytime. Would strongly recommend the Chinese ribs and the ginger tuna roll. Red Ginger 2.18.23 If you're looking for a restaurant that's sure to impress on any special occasion, look no further than Red Ginger in Traverse City, Michigan. My husband and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and were blown away by the service and attention to detail. From the moment we walked in, the staff at Red Ginger made us feel welcome and appreciated. Our server, Maureen, was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the perfect drink to start off the night: the Espresso Martini. It was a delicious blend of coffee and liquor that really woke up our taste buds. We chatted with Maureen about how she landed in Traverse City and the local atmosphere. For our appetizer, we went with the beef ishiyaki, which was a great choice. It wasn’t specifically on the menu, but it was an unforgettable special item. The beef was brought uncooked and we cooked it at the table on a stone slab that was heated on the fire. We also appreciated the portion size - it was just enough to whet our appetites without leaving us feeling too full for our entrees. Speaking of entrees, there were so many great options on the menu that it was hard to choose. Ultimately, I went with the Cognac marinated Faroe Island salmon, miso brown rice, wok tossed brussels sprouts, carrots, red onion, and scallions, while my husband ordered the mandarin orange chicken. Both dishes were fantastic - the flavors were bold and well-balanced, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. But what really made our night special was the surprise anniversary card we were greeted with and chocolate truffles that the staff brought out for us at the end of our meal. It was a small gesture, but it really showed that they cared about making our night memorable. Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Red Ginger and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic night out in Traverse City. The service, food, and ambiance are all top-notch, and the little touches like the anniversary surprise really set it apart from other restaurants in the area.
