great customer service in the front, awful work in the back, if you are paying people in the back to hang around, at least open the back doors for the customers to serve ourselves of the items they are not restocking in the shelves. all the time we have to sneak in the back to get our yogurt and milk, every single day.

The manager at this Ralphs, Sam, is a top-tier leader who keeps this grocery store running very efficiently. All of the employees are knowledgeable about their job and treat customers with respect.

When placing a pickup order I always write a note in the special instructions for my fruits & veggies, deli items, meats and Poultry. For some reason instructions are never read & I get items I didn't request (i.e. regular veggies vs organic). I'm not happy when this happy when this happens and tired of wasting my hard earned money. I don't think it's a lot to ask for the shopper to read the special instructions section otherwise it wouldn't be there.

Every other business I have been to in the area has had nothing but exceptional customer service. This Ralph's location is less than a half mile from home so I have made quite a few trips to this store. Most of my experience has been on the evening and I have had dealt with unfriendly employees every single time (with the exception of the 2 different security guards I have seen. They have both been wonderful) The women who have been working at checkout give off the impression that they are being bothered when I go to pay for my items. This has happened the last 4 or 5 times I have visited without fail. I did appreciate the convenience of having this store so close but I now will not hesitate to travel a little bit further to not feel like an annoyance when trying to purchase my groceries. This seems unlike any other business in Manhattan Beach, everyone in the area is always so friendly and welcoming this absolutely does not fit in with the surrounding businesses quality of service. (I cannot speak for day time as I have only gone a handful of times during the day)

If you don't mind standing for 15 minutes to check out, they have a wide selection, but it's pricey, get better service and quality at Gelson's.
