Favourite childhood restaurant on Yang Ming Mountain. Been eating here with my grandparents and family since I was a wee kid. Amazing free-range chicken is a must-have while you're here. Love the fresh stir fried fiddleheads, taro rice noodle soup, and actual FRIED ice cream as well! Service Dine in Meal type Other Price per person $1,400–1,600 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

This place does serve food in local flavour. Very busy place where waitress run their services in unique way. Can imagine not easy for foreigners however dishes would impress you if you are willing to explore. I would recommend 3 dishes. Chicken, water bamboo stir fry with salted egg and deep fry Taiwanese Shiitake mushroom. Chicken with skin, water bamboo and Shiitake mushroom are big 3 ingredients which are critical to cook. They tell the skill level for a cook directly. After tried the chicken, it became a must-order one. The chicken skin is simply tasty. Not greasy not too soft. They don't use too much salt but able to standout the chicken flavour. The water bamboom with salted egg is another specialty. The texture of water bamboo was reserved. Water bamboo does have a special flagrant. If cook with too high temperature then the taste would be gone fast however salted egg does need high temperature in linger time to stir fry. Same to deep fry shiitake mushroom that it requires precise control over the fry oil. They do good job for these dishes. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–200 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Fried Mushrooms

青菜園 is a rustic eatery in Yang Ming Shan National Park that serves fresh and delicious Taiwanese food. The restaurant is located in a beautiful setting, and the service is friendly and attentive. The star of the show is the roast chicken, which is cooked to perfection. Overall, 青菜園 is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal in a beautiful setting. Family run restaurant which serves fresh local Taiwanese dishes. They have been in operation for +40 years. Dishes are reasonably priced and portions are large. Everything we ordered was delicious but would highly recommend their signature Organic Chicken and the deep fried mushrooms! Service was friendly and efficient. We went on a weekday past normal lunch hours and the place is still filled with customers. Parking is available but limited. Definitely going back to this restaurant if I'm ever around the neighborhood!

Very good traditional Taiwanese dishes. The restaurant is packed on weekends. The best chicken I've ever had. It was really tasty and meaty. The yam soup dessert was also very good. Sweet and gingery. Just be careful when you step outside. The restaurant floor is so oily that when you step outside on the slope, you will slip and slide especially if it is wet!

Founded in 1987 thereabouts, 竹子湖青菜園 is a casual eating house run by a close knit family. It is the oldest of such eating houses in 阳明山, and it is not hard to see why they are still around and doing so so well today. This huge family is very friendly to everyone despite the super-peak lunch hour. Service is shockingly fast - while taking your order, someone else will listen and start preparing your first course so by the time you are back at your table, the first dish is served. Each dish was done to perfection - The chicken is super tender yet maintains its "kampung chicken" bite and sweetness, each shrimp is perfectly crisp and well flavored, and the 三杯 sotong is done just right. I will miss this place!

My family hates crowds but we always have to come up here for their chicken when we are crazing for it.....we only get disappointment when the chickens are sold out!!!! (Super disappointing) Their other dishes are okay. I love their sweet potatoes soup :) You get for free refills of the soup too :) The staff are very kind and friendly which is a plus. Car park has very limited slots. I’ve visited this restaurant many many times since many years ago :)
