Found this place on our way back to our hotel for a late lunch
Place is really beautiful and relaxing
The staff is also very nice and welcoming
We also really enjoyed the food. The Mok Pa, steam fish in banana leaves and fish curry was amazing and full of flavour
One of my favorite was the watercress soup with pork meatball.
Prices are reasonable given the place and location
It was so good we actually came back 3 times which I rarely do on holidays.
Flavour was so well balanced for us that I dont mind whether its authentic or not
I suspect Lao people eat quite spicy but most of the places we went it was not really spicy which suits western palate
At the end as long as the food is good and we spent a good, thats all matters to me
The restaurant itself looks already beautiful from the outside and sitting on the balcony definitely brings a great atmosphere. I was first really sceptical because I didn't find any vegetarian options on the menu but the personnel assured me they would change one of the dishes to a vegetarian one and WOW. What they brought me was absolutely delicious and probably one of the best dishes I ate in my 1 month in South East Asia.

The food was deeply mediocre. You can get so much better food in so many places in this city, definitely don't come here for the food.
The waiters were somewhat too diligent in taking away our plates, this could have been somewhat more graceful. Our bill had a line for a dish the kitchen couldn't make, but that was handled quickly.
We went here because I wanted to sit on the balcony in the pretty building, and we did. Full marks for atmosphere.

As a Lao person who live abroad and a foodie, I love doing food tour. After trying so many types of food, my heart wants Lao food everywhere I go. Went to about 16 countries and apart from trying the local food of those countries, part of my mission is always finding Lao restaurants. I have high expectation on Lao food everywhere I go even in Laos (my home country). Not every Lao restaurant abroad or in Laos can cook Lao food that make you feel like eating at home or taste like a real Lao food. Here at Princess Restaurant by Santi Hotel, I feel like having a true authentic Lao food. The ingredients are fresh from their organic farm. They cook every dish following a traditional Lao cooking method. The service is warm and friendly. The "Fon nang keo" shows is also very impressive. My friends who are visiting Luangprabang and want a real experience of having Lao food, you should put this resto in your agenda.
