For me, this is the best Italian Beef Chicago, suburbs included. I get mine lightly dipped with giardiniera peppers. These guys get tons of business. I believe they have figured out how to produce a good product in a short period of time. It's crowded, I make my order, before I know it, they're calling my number. You may have others to challenge them for best beef in town but I tell you it's going to hard for them to take the title. Everything I ate was of the best quality - beef, fries, and a shake. Yum yum Portillo's. Hubby and I stopped for lunch on Sunday, the 21st of January, going back to Wisconsin. Have been at this location a few times before and never disappointed. Wisconsin has 2 Portillo's, both of which are too far away as we live closer to the U.P of Michigan. I have contacted Portillo's corporate by email requesting a Portillo's up in this direction as it would be beneficial to the company, the population is, and has grown. Portillo's would be serving many of the local towns. I'm hoping they will reconsider. It feels as though the quality of Portillo’s in all locations have declined during COVID and never recovered. Their hot dogs are not what they used to be and burgers are served burnt - not a good char but badly burnt. Even onion rings are overly cooked with too much dough. It is sad to see this institution of a place not being able to live up to its reputation. I hope they make a comeback soon and serve great food like they used to. What happened to Portillo’s hot dogs? The skins are no longer crunchy and fillings tasty. The Italian beef is so plain now, I missed the smell of the spices in the beef, it’s just ok now.
