First stop out of ORD. They just opened one at home in Fort Worth, TX, but I haven’t been there yet. Got the Maxwell St. Polish Sausage, onion rings, and split an Italian Beef & Char Italian Sausage with a friend. The Polish was great, onion rings were onion rings. The Italian stole the show. Not sure I’ll even bother with anything else. Friend got a Chili Cheese Dog and he said it was… a chili cheese dog. Went through drive-through. Have always loved Portillo‘s. Haven’t been able to go there for over 12 years. Food was good but made pretty sloppy. They were quite busy as always but this wasn't your average "a little messy" I probably used 6 napkins just so I could clean up bbq off the sandwich enough to pick it up. I ate in store so it wasn't just thrown in a bag and tipped over....it was made and served a sloppy mess. I didn't complain or give them a chance to fix it and I would still go back, but not order that sandwich again

I always get the roast beef when I come to this place! Ordered large roast beef with hot peppers and grilled onions, fries with cheese sauce and a drink. The sandwich is mouth drooling! But be careful, if you order it normally, it is very messy to eat as it’s dipped in that gravy. Do note - you can order it dry and have gravy on the side (highly recommend you do this if you order take out or delivery). The fries were just okay but the cheese sauce helped them taste better! Definitely the place to go to for Chicago style dogs, and salads and pasta and sandwiches at Barnellis also on the premises. Extremely poplar it gets very crowded both dine in, take out and drive through during meal times. They now have a plant based mock hot dog that's quite decent too. Quick bite to eat! Food was delicious and I enjoyed it. Lovely atmosphere with lots of History, plenty of seating, fast service. Cool decorations of the 'gold rush ' era I believe. Food and drinks were so good, everything felt fresh and came with a high quality. The service was a bit slow but i understand that there is always a lot of people. The place was pretty clean. Food was ok, the chocolate covered strawberry shake was the highlight. I was disappointed they didn't carry the pasta or other items anymore and it doesn't say that on the website or Google. Growing up in Chicago, you learn quickly that ketchup on a hot dog is a HARD PASS! You also learn about one of Chicago's Hot Dog Legendary spots, Portillo's Hot Dogs. While this certainly isn't my first visit to Portillo's, it is time to share my experiences. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe, where you can enjoy your meal with friends. Their menu includes a variety of Italian Beef, Chicken, Salads & Hamburger Sandwiches. But it is the Vienna All-Beef Hot Dogs that most people come for. You can order one anyway you want, so be adventurous! I promise you will NOT be disappointed. Their French Fries & Onion Rings are also delicious, so make sure to order some along with your meal. If you crave Dessert, then I definitely recommend ordering the Portillo's Chocolate Cake. It is moist, rich and full of intense chocolate flavors throughout. If you prefer to "drink" your cake, you can also order the "Chocolate Cake Shake". Once you have tried it, it will be your "go-to" indulgence. The food is always hot and delicious, every visit.
