Order during the week and pick up on Saturday, step out of the ordinary and expand your flavor profiles! This is a Gluten Paradise. What does a wheat baguette taste like? Rye? Man. Craig Ponsford has you covered! My 50/50 Rye Spelt was delicious, full of flavor with a texture that begged to be toasted and slathered with avocado and olive oil. Right? Go to Ponsford’s because you are missing the past and want to find the future, today. Bread. Food: 5

Absolutely beautiful and delicious pastries! I'm so glad I found out about this place and I hope you try it out soon. These are easily some of the best pastries in Marin! Their traditional Kouign Amann is a sight to behold! The two who run the place mill their own grains and use local ingredients. They're friendly people and I look forward to coming back to this place for years to come.

Tasty, inventive breads and pastries. Most made with unusually finely milled whole grain flour. Well worth the wait for the few days a week they are open.

Show up or you will miss out. The guy makes what he wants and if it's not there, then don't ask(just kidding). The lady in the front is nice, mediator/cashier. This place should be in every neighborhood. The selections are delicious if you can get them. Line forms early outside and cash is king.
What if a world class baker ran the eclectic little bakery around the corner? That's Craig Ponsford and Ponsford's Place is a labor of love and a place of soulful nourishment. In one of the pandemic's twists, Ponford's pop-ups have become weekly affairs as teaching has slowed down. Sign up for the mailing list, eat the pastries (they are divine) and don't forget about the pumpernickel.

Small bakery that opens on Fridays and Saturdays.Their bread and pastries are very good! I love their almond croissants (the best almond croissant!), scones and morning buns. Their bread have good texture and taste great! Now they have a pizza night every Wednesday (different people from Fridays and Saturdays). And the pizzas are very good!

Yes, it's amazing to find a tiny high-quality, very personal Bakery such as this one. (A cute and quirky little place that seems to have been transported by magic carpet to San Rafael from another place and time.) Ponsford's is truly a labor of love bakery, and very special indeed. The wonderful baked products are wholesome and delicious. Chat with the baker if you can. (And good luck finding this secret little place!😊)

Found them quite by accident, bought a coffee and a croissant and a baguette. I ate the croissant (delicious) and drank the coffee (OK) and tucked the baguette into my bag. Later, with some nice cheese, it was sublime. Genuinely lovely baguette, really nice crust (not too tough, but crispy) and perfect inside.
This is a special place. A hyper local bakery that is only open a few days a month. The chocolate/cherry sourdough bread is a favorite, along with the super moist cinnamon rolls are a true delight. Wish they were open more, but we treasure the nourishment they share the community when they are open.
