I've been to every coffee shop in Iowa City and this is the worst. I went in to get some work done, ordered a breakfast sandwich and cinnamon roll. They only had 2 menus, that didn't display accurate prices. I avoided the coffee because it was very over priced. The menu said the cinnamon roll was 3$, but I was charged 4.7$. I would not have paid that amount if I had known, it was dry cold and bland. Not fresh made, 100% came frozen. As for the breakfast sandwich, it was extremely salty to the point where it was just gross.
They said the sandwich would take 15 minutes, and It ended up taking about 25 minutes.
I went to do homework as I was waiting and the wifi didn't work at all, so I sat there wasting 25 minutes of my time.
Overall worst prices, taste, and overall experience in Iowa City.

Only thing they’re missing is reliable Wi-Fi. If you want to study you have to reconnect via the hotel guest portal every half hour on each device.

i really wanted to give this place a fair shot, despite having read the reviews beforehand…but sadly i concur with most of the other poor reviews. i asked the barista about allergens in a drink, their response was very snippy and cold, and seemed to be annoyed by me asking. i ended up ordering the samoa latte with soy milk (12oz) which somehow came to $7 before tip; while this seems overpriced already, i don’t mind splurging if the coffee is good. however, i ended up only having a few sips, as it was overly sweet and i could not taste the coffee. (and i generally do like sweet drinks). if i visit again, i’ll have to try a drink without syrup, however not sure if i’ll ever bother to visit again.

Pretty bad… space is kinda nice, but they seem clueless on coffee. Couldn’t tell me origin of the drip and when I ordered a Cortado they asked if I wanted a 4oz or 8oz. I was so confused.
Espresso was sour and under extracted. If you need a place to study this could be nice, but don’t drink the coffee.

Really nice coffee spot. Great atmosphere, good selection of options. Food was decent and coffee was very good. The guest service was really solid as well.
Poindexter is a wonderful establishment with great service, fresh ingredients, and amazing tasting items. I would recommend coming here if you like a variety of coffee options and a calm atmosphere to work/hang out at for a bit

Great place to study and chill with friends. The walls are filled with real pencils. Very student friendly and cozy vibe and I was just mesmerized by the interiors. So artistic!
