We absolutely loved the overall experience, from the food to the ambience, the service - everything. The menu is so well crafted and every single dish we ordered was just amazing. The cocktails were awesome. I highly highly recommend.
Overall 10 out of 10!

Went to this place to have some good food. Place exceeded our expectations. Knowledgeable and motivated staff. We had the cocktails with rasam and vodka, it was superb. Goan Beer. The litti choka was to die for, Tunde kabab, always my favourite. @Izler Thomas was very passionate about his bar menu and was a pleasure interacting with him. Ambience was great, and on a warm sunny winter day it was a perfect setting, we ended up sitting there for 2 hours, very unlike us to spend so much time for lunch.

They say there is no place like home. Well, I present to you Pippal!!
The flavors, the ingredients, the ambiance definitely are on point. But that was expected from the team who is behind Rooh.
But! Where did they get the white butter and the tea infused pindi chole?!! That is as legit as it gets whichever side of the Atlantic your foodie adventures take you.
It’s been a day but I am still reminiscing the experience and the flavors. I have to revisit for the kebabs and lamb chops! Yes, I was the person constantly sneaking a peek at our neighboring table for these and the biryani!
It’s the place that takes the cake ( or the kebab?) for Indian cuisine in the Bay Area !

How lucky are we. After many travels to near and distant places in 2023, we have gone to some wonderful and amazing restaurants. With those experiences in mind we were so please to find a new and wonderfully exotic place in our home town. Pippal is a new restaurant in our outdoor mall called Bay St. This center is in the midst of a revitalization and Pippal is a great addition. The unique Indian inspired menu is a bit of a challenge to understand, but with help of the staff you'll find some interesting options. We started with cocktails at the bar. Their selection is unique and varied. Like the food, the drinks are crafted by the staff and you will not find anything like them anywhere else. For food we sampled five of their Snack/Street Food items, and every one was a winner. As well as the drink and food items, the atmosphere is also unique. A great many of their tables are outside the large folding door, in the patio/court area with other restaurants, near the large fire pit. The inside is understated and simple; yet elegant and classy. We sat at the bar which was very busy. The bartender was friendly but we needed help with the menu. I feel we would have had better food service had we sat at a table. But, this did not negatively effect our experience. We had just returned from touring cities like Singapore and Bangkok and Pappal could hold its own against any place we saw in either of those cities. We are so lucky to have a place like Pippal in Emeryville.

I approached Pippal with the expectation that this is a spinoff restaurant from the renowned Rooh however I was happy to discover that it is quite the opposite. The ambience is on point and the music volume is perfect to enable conversation. The vegetarian momos are outstanding, they are spicy but not over the top yet very well balanced. There was a bit of mix-up in understanding the menu items but the team was very helpful. I recommend the kulcha although the best item ordered this evening was by far the Lamb kabobs. The cocktails were uniquely Indian and well proportioned. Overall it is an amazing restaurant that sits far above any others around Bay Street (Fogo included) and I cannot wait to visit again soon. Highly recommend.

I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately I am a bit disappointed, I had been waiting for them to open. The Menu is from all over, which is kind of unique, as not many places have that. First glance of the menu , I loved it , i wanted to order everything..
Drinks
Taj Mahal - 4/5
Qutub Minar- 5/5
Hyderabdi Chicken Dum Biryani- 2.5/5
This was very well presented but tasted nothing like biryani. It was basically pulau topped off with whole fried chicken.. It was flavorless and bland. We told them it doesn’t taste like Biryani, they said well its not the traditional biryani.
Burrah Kebab- 3.5/5
The portion was generous. But The lamb chops tasted old, the masala coating was good but the meat had some kind of a smell..we felt like the meat is not fresh.
Garlic chilli naan- 3.5/5 we ordered some naan to go with the kebabs, I felt the naan was too then. Its lacked the softness and breadiness.
Mutton lal maas- 3/5 The gravy was good but again, the meat didn’t taste fresh and had a smell.
It came with a very small sheermal which was really soft and fluffy and tasted very good. But was not enough for the gravy so ordered an extra lacha paratha which was way too crispy, it was more like a papad.
Dessert
Shahi tukda- 4.5/5 Very presented, and tasted great.. the perfect sweetness, loved it.
This place has great Ambiance and service but sadly food is very average .

Pippal was an all around delight! Amazing service (shoutout Rashad - friendly, informed, helpful, attentive), a diverse and full menu (for both vegetarian and non vegetarian alike), and an elegant atmosphere (in the most unexpected of places in Bay Street Emeryville shopping center).
Right out the gates, there menu was very extensive and exciting - full of diverse multi-regional Indian dishes that you may not find any other menus. We tried a LARGE variety of items, and they were almost universally great.
Looking forward to coming back to try what we couldn’t get to!

The food was delicious and service was swift but also not overbearing. We had the chance of enjoying the space with the attention of the service and without the overattention than can sometimes be distracting to the company you keep. I recommend giving the place a shot, as they elevate Indian cuisine to levels that before this I’ve yet to have had.

Nice restaurant with great atmosphere. They present dishes nicely, they all look super fancy. When it comes to taste, unfortunately it was a big disappointment. Beside the green dumbling in the picture (dont remember original name) rest of our order was not good, we just ate to finish our plates. Dont recommended!
