Delightful flavors danced on our taste buds, exceeding our expectations with every bite. The hot links proved to be a symphony of tastiness, and thanks to the insightful recommendations from the cheerful staff, the mustard sauce added the perfect zing to the experience. The beef brisket, a true star on the menu, was a mouthwatering delight. Tender, succulent meat paired seamlessly with the mild sauce, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. The cornbread, subtly sweet, provided the ideal accompaniment, enhancing the overall culinary journey. The potato salad, a flavorful addition, was undeniably a big plus, leaving us savoring every moment. Not only did the food shine, but the gentlemen taking orders and crafting our culinary masterpiece were beacons of niceness and helpfulness. Their stellar customer service elevated the entire dining experience, making it one of the best I've had in a while. A heartfelt thank you for a meal that not only filled our stomachs but also warmed our hearts. Cheers to exceptional flavors and top-notch service! Hotlink was amazing! Well worth the $10. Loved the spice and smokiness. Fatty parts of the fatty brisket were pretty good. Sauces paired well with the BBQ and other foods nearby. Will try some pigs and pickles next time. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 5

I was born and raised in the south so i feel qualified to review bbq. I was blown away by the quality of the bbq and fixins (sides). The slaw and banana pudding are the best ive ever had. I have not had grade A bbq on the west coast since moving out here until today. The sauces, meat, and sides are all on point. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Ranch Style Beans

I wanted to like this place, but it does have it's flaws. First they sell their meat by the pound, but it ended up $2.00 more than avertised price. The ribs were dry and sold at room temperature. The sides were just warmer then room temperature. The sauce was just okay. I assume you must take your food home to heat it up yourself. In conclusion: The food was okay but nothing great. I decided to try this place for lunch today because I hvnt been but got confused with the menu. I saw people having bbq sandwiches but it was not on their menu. I decided to ask the service person about the sandwiches and he said I can order any amount of meat and they can put it between a bun. I ended up ordering half a pound of brisket ($15), a hot link ($8), a small potato salad ($3.5) and cornbread ($3) with a side of mild bbq sauce... with tax & tip, roughly $35. So not cheap but I did order a few things. Let me just say, both the brisket (fatty - my preference, not lean) and hot link were delicious! I wished I ordered more because my husband ate most of it (he was waiting on his burger & fries from another place😒). The sauce was tasty as well as the potato salad! The cornbread was plentiful n served with some honey butter. I would definitely order from them again. SO glad, I have another fav place I can go to, to get something to eat here at the Emeryville Public Market. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50
On the price your side but completely worth it... It is Some of the best barbecue brisket I've had in the bay the meat so soft and melt-in-your-mouth go with the hot BBQ sauce to complete the flavor profile it is worth every cent. The mac and cheese is really good but for the best side go with the cornbread and the potato salad. They might recommend the third town but go with at least half a pound it is that good you'll want more.
Public Market has come a long way. Could smell the BBQ before I entered the building and I was hella hungry. Looked around with my buddy and we settled on the BBQ and it did not disappoint. I’m a Texan and I’ll say that the brisket was pretty good. But the ribs were perfect. And the cornbread was hella big, fluffy, and tasty. Def worth the money, I’ll be returning. I'm originally from Austin and have been on the hunt for Texas style BQQ north of the bay. This brisket is the closest I've found so far! The BBQ sauce is also pretty close but missing texas sweetness. 5/5 meal. 4/5 Texas taste! The staff is allergen trained and told me most everything is celiac safe/gluten free or can be altered to accommodate. They are confident many of their meats, sides, and sauces are celiac safe. UNSAFE items: cornbread, macaroni, chili, white sauce on chicken (can be removed), rolls and sanwhich breads. Always ask the servers what is safe and unsafe ahead of ordering on the app as the menu does not have GF called out per item. There is a place in the app to request special instructions for allergen prep. Brisket was solid. Smokey with a nice marbled rim of fat. Good sauce. Great Mac. Best bbq I have had in the Berkeley area. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Mac N Cheese
I cannot say this is the best or even good BBQ. As a Flint’s kid I should know. I’d also like to add the customer service sucked...The guy that helped me seemed a bit cantankerous and contentious. I almost walked away, but it smelled good so I continued with my order. I noticed the menu was À la carte which I didn’t like…then I paid $28 for a half rack and one link. That was a bit pricey for unseasoned meat. I would have gotten some potato salad but it was overloaded with who knows what???? Anyways I’m feeling disgusted after eating this. Meaning my belly hurts. I’m thinking the meat was raw after further inspection. Pretty pink. Trynna kill me huh? You can surely find better BBQ at Smoking Woods in North Oakland Temescal area on Telegraph. Their meat is smoked and seasoned well. Also, their staff is friendly and they have an outside seating area with a TV. Never coming to this place again. I only gave two stars because it smelled good. Lol.
