Across multiple visits, I’ve had the carrot custard (tasty + creative), blueberry/lemon hand pie (lovely - not over sweet so the blueberry stood out) and chicken-bacon (rich & satisfying). The owner has ninja-level pie making skills. Warning - get there early to ensure a full selection.

Best pies in the South Bay. I’ve been making pies for 25 years and this is one of the few places that makes better pies than me. Service Take out Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Update for Pie Dreams' Halloween Pies 2023! Meet the Cauldron Pie: Dark Chocolate Butter Crust. Pandan Custard. Coconut Milk. House Whip Dots and the Devil's Pie: Dark Chocolate Pudding. Dark Sweet Cherries. Kirsch. House Whip. All Butter Crust. Both were very, very good. --- I love when I finally chase down Instagram businesses that I've been following forever. Pie Dreams now has a counter in Newark, and on the weekends, you may be lucky enough to get a slice or a whole pie! I'm not as big of a fruit pie person as most, but the caramel apple was probably my favorite of the options. Pie Dreams has an excellent butter crust that they use for all their pies, and it shines with that fresh apple flavor and just enough caramel to feel indulgent. And who doesn't love a crumble? The key lime pie hit all of the appropriate notes: hint of sweetness followed up by tart richness. And I also liked the lemon chess more than I expected to, as I've often found chess pies to be too gritty and flat. This one was totally smooth, to the point that I'm not sure I believe they added cornmeal in. I'm super glad I had the chicken bacon pot pie for lunch, as I really am a big pot pie fan. The herb gravy was just the right amount of moisture and lots of great flavor. I'm looking forward to learning what's on this summer menu next week! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
