If you are a meat lover, this is the place to be! Wood fire grill will give your meat a very nice smoky flavor. Be careful when ordering. Their portions are really big. My favorite was kidney and sosages. Also, they really like their freshly squeezed orange juice, which also has a very generous portion.

Buena Carne A Las Brasas Con Buenas Papas Fritas
This restaurant has so much potential; however, it failed during our visit to Colonia. This restaurant was recommended by the tour guide. For most Americans or travellers, a flag usually goes up when you ask for restaurant recommendations and the tour guide says this is the one and only place for the best steak. While that may be true, we didn't get a chance to have any food at this restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant, the greeter was wonderful and really helped us out in a getting a table. Considering we didn't speak very much Spanish, we did use Google Translate to help navigate any potential obstacles. At this point, there were no obstacles. We, simply, had to wait for a table for 2. That was no problem at all. Once we were seated, the experience shifted quickly. Our waitress came over, said hello, gave us menus and then she went back inside. As we sat reading the menu, 5 tables opened up. Three 2-top tables, One 4-top, and One 3-top table. As the greeter "the guy that sat us" sat each table, he took their drink order. We found this odd, but said these are probably locals that frequent the place, so this is going to be impeccable service. We, then, realized that our waitress was the waitress for each table. The male greeter took their drink order and she served them their drinks. An older couple sat next to us and they began ordering immediately. They had drinks and appetizers within minutes. Our waitress still hasn't looked back our way, as we sat looking around with hopes that someone would help us. She began to clean tables and just happened to feel us staring at her. She came over and said, "Hola, Chicos" as if we weren't waiting for roughly 20 minutes. When you are waiting, it can be a true test of patience because it feels like an eternity. We told her that we were ready to place the entire order. She understood and responded with "Tell me". We placed the entire order. Drinks came within 3 minutes, so we assumed everything was back on track. Wrong, she went back to cleaning tables and proceeded to setup a table for 12. So, now there are 6 tables. You guessed it, that 12 top got all their drinks within minutes. There is no way the greeter can remember drink orders for 25 people, especially when there are wines, lemonadas, and beers. Nonetheless, our waitress came right out with the drinks in less than 5 minutes. We, still, sat in awe and trying to be positive, as we watched the other tables get their appetizers and entrees. We, finally, said this is unreal when the 12 top started getting appetizers and everyone that came after us were finishing and preparing to leave. (We're approaching the 30 minute mark)
We ordered 2 cokes, 2 beers, a salad, and 2 steaks with fries. Perhaps, we had a higher expectation, because we were told it was the best place and the only place that anyone should go for steak in Colonia despite several other restaurants in the area being right around the corner.
It was very clear that we didn't speak Spanish and we were apologetic for this fact; however, we are also not the people to try to hold a conversation in Spanish. That would be torture for all of us. It was very clear that the other tables either were locals or spoke Spanish. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the only type of people she wanted to interact with...
We got the greeters attention. He came over and read our message on Google Translate. He said, "Oh no, I'll be right back". We simply explained to him that we have been here over 50 minutes without any food and that we would like to cancel the meal, pay for the drinks, and go, because everyone has received their meals and are leaving. He, indeed, returned in less than 1 minute with our salad and steaks. We refused them, at this point we just wanted to leave because the food had been just sitting in the kitchen and the salad " appetizer" looked old now .
The manager now forgot his English, sided with the waitress, did not apologize, simply charged us for our drinks . Horrible experience, I would hate for anybody to go through this, locals enjoy tourists beware

On va partir sur une bonne note de Colonia, après deux mauvaises expériences dans la journée. La viande était excellente et le service agréable.

Probably the worst restaurant I have been to in the last 25 years. The Asado was so poorly prepared and so tough it inedible. Most of the meal was sent back to the garbage where it belonged in the first place. The chicken was so overcooked it too was inedible. It was like eating cardboard. The white wine was warm and barely drinkable. There are lots of restaurants in Colonia, do yourself a favour and give this place a miss.

The first meal I had when I arrived in Colonia del Sacramento. I arrived quite late at night after taking the ferry from Buenos Aires. I was walking along the main street and saw this restaurant which was still quite crowded pretty late and I thought it should be pretty good so I decided to give it a try.
Not knowing what to order, the male waiter recommended me to try the Chivito El Porton, which is the local Uruguayan dish as well as the restaurant signature.
I tried and was impressed with the quality. There was literally too much on the plate. I tried to finish everything and it was very filling. Very enjoyable meal the price was pretty reasonable as well. I didn't know but I paid with credit card and there was even a discount! What a great value meal here. Highly recommended.

Went here for dinner and was not really impressed because it has to much of a tourist feel not as much a local feel. There are a lot of good restaurants in there area so unfortunately the bar is very high. It wasn’t bad just not as good as some others. The place is quite large with both inside and outside dinning. It would be good for large gatherings for work or with family/friends. It seems to be very geared towards tourist due to size and even dual language menu and they accept AMEX which a lot of places don’t take. The English level of the staff was very good (also a good sign it’s a tourist stop). The interior design / decorations were pretty cool too which was nice. Food is ok, they have a lot of grilled meat combos which look nice but since I was dinning alone I didn’t partake. The bread in the bread basket was a bit dry, as well as the pork roll thing I got. I guess if you want something a little closer to western this could be a good option but I don’t think I would go back.

We went to this restaurant because it has 4.4 rating with almost 3K reviews. I ordered spaghetti rosa- tasteless. My BF ordered grilled chicken with mashed pumpkins and chicken too dry, tasteless pumpkin. We also ordered caprese: the mozzarella cheese not fresh. Very disappointed
