Believe it or not I have never been to a Papa Murphy’s before but I got a coupon in the mail for by one get one half off so I decided to go for it. I had a preconceived notion that the business model was based around using a loophole in the EBT system so I expected the pizza to be on par with Chuck E Cheese which might possibly be the worst pizza on the planet.
The service was good and the pizza was way better than I expected. Definitely better than any frozen pizza and even better than some take out pizza I’ve had. I got 2 larges which are 16” pizzas, pretty big, I thought about cooking them on a stone but decided to try cooking them on the provided platter since not everyone probably has a 16” stone.
Pizzas went in pretty floppy and a little hard to handle but came out crisp. Cut it onto 12 slices (as a 16” should be) and was pretty impressed with my fist bite. Definitely better than expected. They don’t use a pizza docker on the crust and my pepperoni pizza did bubble up some as shown in the photo.
I still don’t know if I fully get it, by estimation without my coupon the total would have been about $26 for two pizzas which isn’t a whole lot of savings, I would have to contemplate if the time and effort to cook my own when ordering out is worth saving a few bucks but the pizza is definitely edible!
