From the time we sat down at 5 for a wine tasting (2 flights) ordered appetizers and then dinner around 6:15 … Jenna took AMAZING care of us. Everything was absolutely wonderful! I can’t wait to have an experience here again!

Our first experience here was a Valentine's Day dinner with a prix fixe menu. My wife & I fully understand the difficulties of such a production, and we only came into it expecting good drinks with a decent atmosphere... ... what we found was an amazing town, phenomenal food, and a staff that belongs anywhere they'd want to serve. Really, really good experience and we'll be back from Winston-Salem. Well worth the commute. Clean, courteous, knowledgeable and tasty!

I was looking for a place to take my friend for Valentine's dinner and I picked the Old North State winery. I am very glad I did 😘 The service was excellent and spot on. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs (I have Celiac disease and have to be careful with what I can eat) she was also very knowledgeable and if didn't know the answer to our questions was able to get the information from the chef. The atmosphere was incredible
I decided to go to Mt. Airy and check out the historic downtown. I was happy to find this restaurant because all the other ones on the street were more fast food, burgers, unhealthy options, etc. The atmosphere was clean and open. The decor was classy and the bar was fun. I got the fish of the day (mahi) sandwich and it was cooked perfectly. The salad was fresh and great vegetables. The service was good. I wanted a glass of the sociable red, but they were out of that one, so I didn’t get any wine.

We met some friends here and had an amazing meal and service. Wednesday was half price wine so Jill and I split a bottle of the unoaked, Fish Hippie Bare Bones Chardonnay. Hubs got the NY Strip with a potato cake, snow peas and a side of blackened shrimp. I got their Maryland style crab cakes, fingerling potatoes and snow peas. The strip was very tender and the crab cakes were LOADED with jumbo lump crab and they were seared crispy. Delish!! Alissa was an excellent server!

Have been meaning to visit for awhile now but never seemed to get up to Mt. Airy till now. Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Their Gold Leaf house wine was pretty good. Had the lunch soup/sandwich/salad for $14 bucks. Very very good. Came on a day when soup of the day was tomato bisque. Nothing better than grilled cheese and tomato soup! Will definitely be back. Bartenders were very good also and very nice.
It's the first food and the wine is absolutely phenomenal. The staff was knowledgeable and very thoughtful about the pairing appointment food. The tenderloin melted in my mouth with a satisfying finish with the Robert Hall Merlot. The pork belly spring roll was to fight for. The staff was entertaining with their stories of Alex the ghost. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to enjoy the best of local wine and winery.

Old North State is probably one of the best dining experiences you can have in Mt. Airy, NC. It’s on the expensive side but, you get what you pay for. The menu is ever changing with seasonal dishes and they have a wonderful seven course chefs dining and wine pairing experience. They also have a great bar that makes traditional and non traditional drinks. Overall this is an amazing restaurant.
