Easily the best place we ate in Zanzibar. I’d even put it in my top 5 meals of all time. The place was amazing, the food was beyond amazing and the staff were even better. So friendly and helpful! Cannot recommend this place enough - MUST VISIT!

Amazing local Restaurant managed by good people...
My suggestion is to book before and deal with Mr. Okala what you will like to eat....
The quality of the food is a lot better than any other local restaurant....

The grilled whole fish (rabbit fish) was delicious and the spice rice was the best we had on the island.
The food is cooked in a local way (with wood and charcoal) and the chef Achmed is a very nice guy.
We reserved and ordered in advance (recommended) and it was a great experience. A big feast with plenty of veggies and sides and a beautiful seafood platter with lots of different flavors. If you are interested in learning more about true local culture, go try it!!!
Amazing cooking class experience!!! Pick-up from our resort, we got to build our own menu with Okala, and then started our adventure! We loved being hands on with making chapati and samosas!! Cutting veggies, making dough, and the amazing women showed us all their tips and tricks. The class was about 4 hours and you got to eat everything. Would do a million times again!!!
Very nice restaurant and great fish reccommended by the owner. It was the best fish I have eaten on Sansibar. It is marinated in curry and has nice crunchy crust. Chicken was unfortunately not warm enough for us, but I would definitely come back for this amazing fish.

This place is great, 1 minute walking from the beach, nice and quiet, with little coral pot lanterns (photo). It happened to be that we were the only people having dinner, but we loved it as the owner, Chum, sat with us and explained our dishes and talked about him as well, very nice and educated guy speaking English and learning Spanish.
I don't know if you need to book in advance but I think it's the best.
We went for a walk in the afternoon and asked him if it was ok to have dinner, we asked for a platter of seafood and he told us what we would have.
Our surprise was at dinner, when he brought sweet potato and bread fruit homemade fries, curried vegetables with spiced (not spicy) rice and chapati to start with, which was delicious!
And then the seafood platter with curried octopus tentacles, coconut octopus, coconut squid, rabbit fish and stone lobster.
At first it seemed to much food for two but we devoured all. The fish was super good.
I'm not a big fan of spices like cinnamon in curries or rice as makes it sweet but here it was perfectly balanced, maybe because they use their local cinnamon. Same with coconut, not a big fan, but the way the cooked the squid and octopus was delightful!
This place is a must if you are in Jambiani or close
Okala (the owner) is really awesome. Super kind and full of wisdom! Vegan option I got the vegetable curry has ALOT of vegetables and fresh spices & seasoning !!! My friend got the seafood curry and she said it was delicious too! Ask for fresh coconuts! Great local vibe !
Went there to eat local. Was not disappointed! Their coconut lobster is delicious.
Though a suggestion for the owner would be to improve the cleanliness of the sand and the tables. It would make the experience perfect!
