Second time here. I'm from CT. We came in for a small bite and drink with a few friends. The place was packed but there were still a few tables. The bar was packed and remained packed for a while. Great beer selections and happy people. Staff was pleasant and kept coming to ask what we needed. We tried their Garlic Parmigiana Fries and Seafood Cakes (shrimp, scallops and Crabs). Omg the most perfectly crispy yet not oily and flavorful fries. The seafood cakes will not disappoint you. Trust me fool of seafood and large portion. I was extremely impressed with this seafood cake. The aioli could have had a bit more flavor but still pleasant. Loved the ambiance. May be a little too loud for some but a perfect loudness for an Irish pub. Loved it!!

Hands down some of the best soup I have had in my life. The clam chowder and french onion were to die for. My relatives had a salad and the wings and they were also wonderful. One of the best food I had throughout my entire stay in new england. If you are within an hour drive, you gotta try their food. Very affordable. Incredibly delicious. This is not an Irish pub. There is no Shepard's Pie and if you're a Guinness snob you'll not get glass nor a good pour. They have a good menu & selection of beers on tap, servers are friendly and responsive(place was full). I recommend going. In a prior response from owner, "we actually don’t brand ourselves as an Irish pub… Just a restaurant in Newport with an Irish name...". Maybe not branded but by using the word "Pub", green paint everywhere, and have Guinness on tap you project it. ;) Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We've visited Obrians a couple times. Great location with reasonable priced food. Our first visit went well, made us want to return. Second visit was slow service but food was good. We waited about 15 minutes for a server than once Ordered, about 45 minutes for our food that all came out at once. They were busy but not that busy to wait that long. The food came out hot, kids were super hungry so ate very quickly. We had burgers, chicken jerk, calamari (was great), wings and macaroni and cheese. We enjoyed the atmosphere, had a guy there playing music. Kind of off the beaten path of the heavy foot traffic. Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Crab cakes were so good! The best I’ve ever had (albeit, I’ve only ever had a handful). Definitely makes me want to try all other crab cakes going forward. Everything else was pretty standard, nothing to rave about. Love that they’re dog friendly, staff even brought us a baggie of biscuits and water bowl. They didn’t care that he was a tad barky (we were working on his social anxiety). They had a line on a cloudy Saturday morning before opening, so I can only imagine how packed the place would be in full swing. I would definitely be back. This place is PET FRIENDLY !!!!!!!!!! We sat down they gave my buddy (dog) I bowl of fresh water with ice in it. And a bag with dog bones for him. The lobster 🦞 mac and cheese was awesome. The rest of the food was very good as well. Definitely going back. 1.5 hour drive from my house to O'Briens I will be making that drive soon
