I don't have words to describe how incredibly satisfying the food and the experience was during our visit. While they serve a plethora of items, you really should be someone who enjoys sushi/Asian food if you want to go here. Reservations are a must - usually well in advance. We dined doing a small plates setup, ordering numerous small plates to share - DON'T LET THIS SCARE YOU AWAY. You probably don't have to do it this way, but everything is delicious and you get to try so many different items this way. We ended up ordering two additional orders of our favorite things. This was hands down one of my favorite, most memorable meals I've ever had. I'm no food critic, just an average person who loves food, and I'd go back here Every. Single. Time. i'm in Austin. Delicious food that's not too heavy, excellent service, calming romantic atmosphere. Great for dates, business or a special occasion. Just do it. You won't regret it. First time eating at this restaurant. The weather was so nice, we opt to sit on the patio. We were seated immediately. Our host Cat was wonderful with explaining the menu and offered her suggestions; earning our trust to the point where she order our second rosund of drinks for us. Spot on! The cucumber drink was quite refreshing for us! Our experience was wonderful! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Returning for a special dinner with friends visiting from out of state. Food was amazing as always. The grilled oyster is one of the best bites anywhere. Sampled some Sake that was excellent. Uchiko has absolutely been my favorite restaurant in Austin for over 10 years. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it. I don't live in Austin anymore but I return every year and always go to new or different places, but without fail I always return to Uchiko and it's always my favorite dinner. The service is top notch. Knowledge, present, and warm. Food is delicious. Yokai Berry, Hama Chili, and the cereal and milk dessert are always repeat bites. All of the fish is so good plus many delicious bites of veggies and interesting Japanese cuisine. They also offer free valet which eliminates an Austin headache for every other restaurant, the parking. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
My husband got us a reservation at Uchiko for Valentine’s Day. I was super surprised he was able to get a reservation because I’ve heard it’s usually booked out very far in advance. Anyways, we were set outside on the patio. The patio is very nicely decorated and they had heat lamps in case it got too cold. We were very comfortable the entire time. The star of our evening definitely had to be Tammy who was our waitress. She was amazing and really took her time with us first-timers. She went over the menu and gave us some excellent recommendations when asked. She never let us run out of water and she was very good at checking in on us throughout the night which was impressive considering how many tables she was handling. Anyways, I mostly wanted to write this review to give Tammy a huge shout out! You were the best! As far as the food goes, it did not disappoint at all. We were blown away! I was nervous that this place had been overhyped but it wasn’t. Yes, it’s expensive but, everything that came out of the kitchen was absolutely delicious! Below is what we ordered if you’re curious. Tammy’s recommendations: - hama chili (cool tasting) - ko salad (greens) - brussel sprouts (agemono) Everything else we ordered: - pork belly (daily specials) - sake toro (nigiri + sashimi) - bincho (nigiri + sashimi) - soft shell crab (makimono) - shag (makimono) - blueberry okashi (desserts) - hot jasmine tea Everything we ate was phenomenal but, I especially loved the cuts of fish they had. The best was the sake toro on the nigiri + sashimi part of the menu. It was scrumptious cuts of salmon belly that you dipped in this lemony-yogurt-type sauce. I love lemon anything and it was just out of this world tasty! I wish I had ordered a second round. Overall, this was the perfect place to dine at on Valentine’s Day. Inside and outside Uchiko has this calm and romantic vibe to it. I also loved how exploratory the menu is! At first I was a little overwhelmed at all the options but, Tammy really helped in this regard. Now I feel prepared next time we return! Excited to see what’s on the menu next time we’re here!
