This is now our favorite local dinner place, and that says something in Newtown. The atmosphere is wonderful and service excellent. The Sommelier is knowledgeable and personable. He's given us wonderful pairings. The wine list is overwhelming so we always consult him. The food is delicious and perfectly prepared. Last night I had the Salmon with mango chutney and loved it while my wife had the chicken which was tender and juicy with perfect sides. The duck is also delectable. What an experience. New to town having purchased two years ago. We came here on a Friday night a few weeks ago right at five - we weren’t greeted at all, rather, we were left feeling that we inconvenienced the team. We were a party of four and were met with attitude as we didn’t have a reservation and told to do so next time. Fast forward a few weeks - made our reservation and arrived with a party of four. Server seemed so kind - I ordered a dirty martini and after approximately 20 - 30 minutes ordered a second. The server returned to my table and said, and I quote “ the bartender wanted me to remind you that these drinks have 4 oz of vodka and you have ordered a second within 20 minutes - I wanted to make sure you were ok “. This was in front of my party of four. Never have I ever been so embarrassed at a dinner, let alone an overly expensive one. The server was replaced by a super nice guy, followed by a unique and relatively passive manager who “comped” my martini. I am in the service industry. I live, eat, and breath customer service. This was disgusting and we will never be back. Happy to speak with management or anyone else that wishes to speak but wow folks, it doesn’t get anymore “green” and unprofessional than this. I have nothing but good things to say about Nouveau Monde! We found out about this gem while looking for a location for our baby shower! And I’m so happy we chose them. Our party was last year, on October 16th. Our event planner , Lynda was just a delight to work with. The location is beautiful, the food is sensational - we did go again for dinner a couple times before and after the shower - and we could not stop talking about how good the food was! If you need a location for a baby shower, a bridal shower or any other small event, don’t hesitate to contact Nouveau Monde, and ask for Lynda! And if you are looking for a special place for a nice dinner, you are not going to regret coming here! Okay this has quickly become our favorite spot to dine in Newtown. Oh my gosh all of the food is so yummy. The staff being it to next level. They save your drink preferences in your system so they remember the wine you loved or the cocktail you’re probably going to order. That little extra step makes it so personal and intimate. For food, you have to order the steak skewers - OUT OF THIS WORLD. The focaccia bread is the best I’ve ever had, with the exception of a small deli I visited in Italy. The pasta dish is amazing. The pork chop wrapped in bacon is exceptional. The steak is outstanding. I don’t have a bad thing to say. Now please excuse me sheik I go make a reservation for this weekend!! A perfect place for an event. We rented out Antoinette's which is a separate building in the back. It comfortably fit 25 people - having two floors added a nice flow to the meal/activities. It was really nice to have the patio open as well! The food was phenomenal. I really mean it. Everybody was complimenting the space, with one guest noting that it was the "classiest" shower venue she's been to. Linda, our coordinator, went wayyyy above and beyond to make the event perfect. The bar/wait staff were also super attentive yet easygoing. Can't wait to come back for a regular date night dinner service! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Nouveau Monde is an awesome bistro with Wonderful food, wine, beverages, and staff. Never disappointed. But, there's a secret - a speakeasy in the back - across the parking lot. Yes, a speakeasy in Sandy Hook! Hosted by Gary - exceptional mixologist, it is a true hidden refuge. Savory treats come from across the way while you relax in comfy chairs, listen to some great tunes, and maybe enjoy some video. Really an incredible creation in Newtown! I wanted a bridal shower venue that was elegant with elevated dining. Nouveau Monde has it all! Delicious, refined entree selections. Impeccable, attentive service. Architecturally beautiful decor. When scouting venues, my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at NM. We soon returned with my daughter and future son-in-law to be sure the venue was the right fit. In all, we had 7 different entrees - all culinary treats prepared and presented perfectly with professional, elevated service. I met and continued to work closely with Linda, their director of private events. She's lovely and so accommodating! She helped me plan a beautiful event for my daughter's shower. Linda wisely guided my menu and beverage choices. She prepared entree cards (a guest commented on her beautiful handwriting). Linda tastefully added tulle to the bride's chair and welcome easel. She added votives to each table. Linda helped pace our party perfectly. We had the main room all to ourselves - bar service, wait, and bus staff - all focused on us! They even helped us hide rings for one of the games! The ambience/decor creates an upscale vibe - no need to over decorate. I simply added orchids and a few meaningful, yet understated photo clip stands to tables. One of the guests is a wedding planner and she told me, repeatedly, how perfect everything was - thanks to Linda, the owner, chef, bartender, and wait staff at Nouveau Monde! If you're looking for a place to hold a special event, stop. It's Nouveau Monde!

Every time I visit, it is a whole "other level" experience. The food, wine selections and pairings are second to none. I try something different every time and am blown away. Add great company and I dare you to top Nouveau Monde. Bill, Paulo, Ryan and the team dance synchronously to a fine dining rhythm that makes your heart flutter during the evening and leaves an imprint when you leave. If you love fine wine/dining, without the pretension and haven't visited yet, believe me, you are missing out on a hidden gem! Please check it out! A wonderfully comfy place. The meal was amazing and the drinks were a great pairing for the food. The staff were very knowledgeable and polite. The farm to table style food means they might not always have what you would like such as the steak tips I wanted. However, it did not matter to much as all the food was delicious. The mussels were large and pillowy, the fried chicken was spectacular with good cheesy grits. The salmon was covered in a wonderful citrus glaze that made for a tasty surprise. I will definitely be coming back.
